    License/Certification RequiredEssential Job Functions This position is viewed as a certified Medical Lab Technologist.

    The person in this position will be required to perform moderately complex to highly complex laboratory tests with minimal or no supervision.

    The various areas of the laboratory in which testing is done are:
    hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, microbiology, immunology, EKG?s and phlebotomy.

    The technologist must be able to perform these tests with precision, accuracy and must be able to report out results within the laboratory's established turn around times.

    This person will be required to perform and document all Quality Control and be able to evaluate any results, which deviate from the established normal values.

    This person will be required to follow all Quality Assurance Procedures and document any corrective action taken when necessary.

    This person will recognize and follow all safety regulations and adhere to all guidelines set for clinical laboratories by OSHA, CLIA, ASCP and AMT.

    This person will be required to operate and use all laboratory equipment and testing kits and be knowledgeable in the troubleshooting techniques of each one.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position Possess the educational level for med lab technologist or medical laboratory technician.

    Maintain current level of proficiency. Maintain current appropriate national and/or state certifications.

    Ability to multitask in a high volume clinic setting. Ability to accurately read testing results as errors could be life threatening. Walking and standing are required. Skillful use with needles is required.

    Proper PPE must be used to transport specimens to work areas, skillful use of laboratory equipment can also be physically demanding.

    Preparation of patients for various laboratory tests can be physically as well as emotionally fatiguing. This person will know their physical limitations in order not to compromise safety, the patients safety or co-workers safety.

    Laboratory Operations:

    Organizes and directs the daily activities of the laboratory; participates with supervisor in work planning, staff training, evaluating work, and counseling.

    Serves as an expert in directing the work in specialized testing areas. 2.

    Manages laboratory resources including inventory control; manages storage and acquisition of specimens; establishes priorities in the use of resources; may monitor expenditures.

    3. Researches and recommends purchase of new and/or replacement of equipment and supplies. 4. Evaluates and modifies quality control procedures. Reviews work of others for conformance with quality control procedures; maintains quality control records. 5. Performs safety checks; ensures compliance with health and safety guidelines. Trains others.


    Laboratory Testing and Analysis:
    1. Performs complex laboratory procedures; recognizes deviations from expected and/or normal results; analyzes results for possible solutions. 2. Recommends new test methodologies and/or modifies existing ones to achieve desired results; evaluates new techniques. 3. Prepares and analyzes a variety of data; provides detailed documentation and analysis of clinical and research data. 4. Provides clinical interface and discusses results with clinicians; answers inquiries about test results.
    Pay will be commensurate with applicant competencies, budget, equity and market considerations.
