- Implements Medical Department operations - including but not limited to the following:
- Conducting assessment, treatment, referral and recording of occupational and emergent non-occupational injuries/illnesses
- Perform medical surveillance and licensing exams, such as pre-employment, fitness for duty, powered industrial equipment, DOT physicals and OSHA required exams.
- Administering the policies of the occupational medical program consistent with the company's general policies concerning health services.
- Utilizing the necessary equipment and supplies necessary to achieve the objectives of the Medical Department and operate within budget guidelines.
- Administering the plant's Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
- Partnering with professional health resources and department supervision to place injured workers into modified/light duty assignments which meet their physical capabilities and promote rehabilitation.
- Interacting with on-site and community physicians, nurses, and physical therapists to promote employee health and wellness.
- Staying updated on knowledge of federal, state, and local laws/regulations and other best practices applicable to occupational health. Maintains all required professional licensure and certifications.
- Collaborates with Safety Team and Risk Management by participating in Global Safety & Health Audit process and instructing employees in ergonomic and safety education
