    $31.40 Position Summary:
    The Locomotive/Engine Test Technician is responsible for the testing and diagnostics of all electrical and mechanical systems on a locomotive and locomotive sub-assemblies including, but not limited to, complicated circuits, electrical measurements, air brake systems, diesel engines and interactions between all systems


    Major Responsibilities:
    Diagnose, adjust, troubleshoot and repair all defects found during testingConduct track testing of all types of locomotives and be expected to follow all rules pertaining to the operation of a locomotiveCalculate and record data; data may have to be compiled into test reports for record keepingUse set ups and special instrumentation required to determine parts performance and systems characteristicsCommissioning and troubleshooting light rail vehicles, locomotives and/or coachesPerform, with the use of mechanical drawings, schematics and location circuit plans, electrical and mechanical repairs of various componentsUse laptops with subsystem software to troubleshoot and test electrical, hydraulic and/or pneumatic systemsDiagnose electrical malfunctions in passenger rail control circuits and components, assess the nature of problems, and identify corrective action neededRead, interpret and understand written or electronic information, maintain the information, and compile reportsUnderstand and follow company and industry safety rules, practices, and procedures

    Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
    High school diploma or GED5+ years' experience in electrical and mechanical diagnosticsKnowledge of AC / DC theory, Digital Electronics, and Fiber OpticsKnowledge and/or training in Pneumatic Air SystemsMust be willing and able to work any shiftMust be willing to work in tobacco/smoke free environment

    Understanding and ability to work with complicated electrical schematics, verbal instructions, and / or drawingsAbility to meet physical / safety standards for test track operations on all types of LocomotivesAbility to properly use and care for assigned tools and equipmentAbility to adhere to standards and do a quality job in a safe and timely mannerAbility to perform multiple tasks in any combination / concentration in Quality, Safety, Environmental, Lean, and HPWT philosophiesUnderstand math functions including simple math, decimals and fractionsAbility to climb repeatedly and work from heights off ladders, platforms, and scaffoldsRepeated bendingExposure to constant noise 90 DBAExposure to fumes/smoke from burning, paint vapors, and dustProlonged walking/standingHeavy lifting 45+ lbsWabtec Corporation is committed to taking on the world's toughest challenges.
