    Position Details Title Clinical Associate Professor of Law Appointment Status Non-Tenure Track Department IU Bloomington Maurer School of Law Location Bloomington Position Summary The INDIANA UNIVERSITY MAURER SCHOOL OF LAW ("Maurer") invites applications for a full-time clinical faculty member to direct Maurer's Community Legal Clinic, which has historically been a public interest legal services clinic focused on representing indigent and low-income clients in family law cases in Monroe County and surrounding counties in Indiana. We seek a clinical faculty member with an unwavering commitment to teaching and mentoring students in an environment dedicated to excellence as well as with strong enthusiasm for leveraging technology to expand the reach and impact of public interest initiatives.

    The clinical faculty member position includes both service and teaching obligations, including but not limited to:
  • Designing, implementing, and managing clinical projects that fulfill the program's mission of providing experiential learning and community service;
  • Supervising and mentoring law students in real-world casework, including client interviews, legal research, and court appearances;
  • Collaborating with relevant stakeholders to design and implement technological tools and solutions to enhance the program's reach and efficacy;
  • Assisting faculty colleagues in a larger law school project to coordinate the various public interest student opportunities at Maurer Law into a cohesive public interest experiential program;
  • Collaborating with faculty and staff to integrate public interest initiatives into the broader curriculum;
  • Establishing and maintaining partnerships with local community organizations and local courts; and
  • Participating actively in faculty governance, including committee work.
  • Basic Qualifications Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in any field and a J.D. degree or foreign equivalent, and must be admitted to practice in Indiana or licensed in another jurisdiction and eligible to be admitted on motion to practice in Indiana. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of litigation experience in family law, consumer protection, patients' rights, employment discrimination, disability law, or other public interest law as well as experience in or a willingness to assist in the design of technological solutions to further extend the benefits of Maurer's public interest program to a wider audience in Southern Indiana. At least one year of clinical teaching experience is preferred but not required.
