    Leidos Health & Civil Sector is seeking a PhD level Research Neuroscientist to support the US Navy's Warfighter Performance Department.

    The Research Neuroscientist will be responsible for conducting neuroscience research projects specific to military performance of healthy and injured warfighters.

    Work will be conducted primarily in the laboratory setting in San Diego, CA with other efforts occurring in field-based settings such as at military training locations in austere settings.

    You will be working alongside government Principal Investigators and Senior Scientists, the Research Neuroscientist will conduct research using methods such as: (1) non-invasive EEG recording in both static and dynamic virtual reality environments, (2) integrated multimodal physiological measures such as eye tracking, ECG, EMG, GSR, respiration, and temperature, (3) motion capture and modeling in a virtual reality environments, (4) visual computing and machine learning, and (5) development of electronic devices customized for specific research project needs.


    Some of the specific job duties include:

    • Execute the full project life cycle from hypothesis generation, grant writing, experiment design, data collection, analysis, and present findings in professional journals and conferences, having a significant impact on research program deliverables.
    • Independently establish robust and validated protocols based on current leading-edge physiologic and neurophysiologic techniques.
    • Effectively manage local and outlying US Department of Defense collaborative relationships necessary for completion of project-specific milestones.
    • Prepare required protocols and reports for human subjects research, adhering to all procedures.
    • Lead and train research assistants of varied levels.
    • Identify and procure research equipment, and create standard operating procedures.
    • Develop and submit presentations, peer-reviewed journal publications, and technical reports.
    • Develop technical solutions that require collaboration with internal experts, deep analyses and understanding of impact on solution.

    Required Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • PhD in neurosciences or closely related field, such as cognitive neuroscience, neuropsychology, and computational neurosciences and 3 or more years of working experience or master's degree with strong background in neurosciences or a related field and five or more years of experience working as a researcher on neuroscience projects.
    • Advanced knowledge of system neurosciences, digital signal processing, and computational neuroscience.
    • Extensive hand-on experience of conventional and mobile EEG recording.
    • Basic knowledge of the principles of electrical engineering.
    • Strong technical skills and demonstrated proficiency in advanced digital signal analysis related to EEG and other physiological signals are required.
    • Advanced knowledge of experimental design methodologies and modern statistical techniques for large dataset analysis.
    • Knowledge and experience in application and algorithm developments in visual computing and machine learning, in either MATLAB or Python platform.
    • Ability to be a self-starter, act on objectives in an independent manner, demonstrate leadership, work independently and collaboratively in a team, and the ability to plan and prioritize work with multiple projects with dynamic timelines.
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Secret Clearance
    • Able to travel locally, nationally, and internationally as needed for meetings and conferences
    • Ability to regularly work on-site at a military installation.
    • Ability to work a varying schedule such as overnights and on weekends and holidays, for research study needs.
    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in electrical engineering design is preferred.
    • Active Secret Clearance and experience with military populations is preferred.

    Pay Range:
    Pay Range $81, $146,875.00

    The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.

    Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
