Peer Support Counselors play a crucial role in utilizing their personal experiences and system knowledge to offer outreach, support, advocacy, and direct services to clients of all age groups. They act as mentors, educators, and advocates, guiding clients towards recovery and helping them establish a meaningful role outside of their illness.
Division/Program Overview:
Peer Support Counselors deliver essential services to clients both in the community and at designated locations, implementing recognized practices in their assistance. They provide individual support, mentorship, and role modeling to clients and their families, aiding them in accessing various resources within the behavioral health system and the community.
They assist clients in securing resources like housing, education, vocational support, and health services, collaborating with the Treatment Team to formulate care plans, offer direct services, and enhance clients' skills. Additionally, they advocate for clients, encourage self-advocacy, and maintain necessary service documentation.
