    About this opportunity:

    This position plans and provides activities that include developmental and recreational activities for school-age children participating in the Summer B&G camp programs; manages temporary summer staff; plans, develops, and facilitates daily schedules and activities; prepares and maintains program records; maintains cleanliness and orderliness of Club's property.

    Responsibilities include:

  • Serves as the day-to-day supervisor of all assigned program staff and volunteers; assigns and oversees daily duties of staff; trains and instructs employees in the proper methods and procedures.
  • Provides leadership and constant care for the needs of the children in the summer program in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner.
  • Facilitates developmental and recreational activities for school age children; ensures that activities are age appropriate, stimulating, fun and safe for the children.
  • Determines appropriate supplies and materials for planned activities; ensures the children's safety in utilizing the same.
  • Provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through both inside and outside learning activities.
  • Prepares and serves children snacks and meals; ensures that children receive nutritional and tasteful food; provides positive, relaxed atmosphere during children mealtime encouraging conversation.
  • Organizes and supervises recreational activities; observes, monitors, and supervises children at all times to ensure safety.
  • Prepares schedules, parent notices, newsletters and other instruments necessary for the smooth operation of all programs.
  • Exhibits control of the children and when needed displays proper discipline techniques.
  • Assures all program rooms are decorated with up-to-date themes; assists in preparing and maintaining attractive, entertaining, and educational bulletin boards.
  • Collects and receipts all money paid by program participants; ensures the security and accountability of all money collected
  • Maintains the program materials in an orderly fashion; maintains accountability for materials necessary for programs.
  • Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and required reports (attendance, development progress, discipline reports, etc.).
  • Reports all accidents to the supervisor in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Builds and maintains effective and positive relationships with parents, community leaders and host organizations and agencies; ensures all obligations are fulfilled in meeting the requirements of any written or verbal agreements.
  • What we are looking for in you:

  • High School Diploma or GED, 45 hour required DCF School Age Training
  • And

  • Two years experience teaching child development programs in a school, church, or other organized youth program,
  • Or

  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

    Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write and communicate the English language. Ability to observe children and ensure their safety. Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis. Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor recreational environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
