    General Summary of Position MedStar\rGeorgetown University Hospital is looking for a Unit Secretary to work Days/Evenings\ron an as needed basis.
    The Unit\rSecretary performs secretarial, clerical and receptionist support duties\rnecessary for the operations of a patient care unit. These functions are\rperformed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown\rUniversity Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.

    Primary Duties
    Acts as a\r receptionist on the unit and provides appropriate assistance to families\r and patients.
    Transcribes\r doctor's orders and coordinates patient testing, procedures, and\r appointments with other departments.
    Receives\r supplies, nourishments, check orders and places items in the appropriate\r storage areas.

    Maintains and\r operates the unit's computer system and other communication systems (e.g.\r bulletin boards, paging system, intercom, telephone etc.), transmits data\r for EKG's to Heart Station, responds to requests in emergency situations\r as well as to call lights.

    Maintains and\r controls medical records and assembles charts according to discharge\r procedures.
    Submits charges\r for treatments and/or CSS supplies according to established procedures.
    Check office\r equipment for maintenance and repair and requests needed services.

    Performs\r inventory of stock levels of sterile/non sterile patient care and unit\r supplies and completes required records and prepares orders/credits for\r supplies.

    Exemplifies\r Guest and Staff Relations standards in all activities.

    Assumes other\r duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area.\r The above responsibilities are a general description of the level and\r nature of the work assigned to this classification and are not to be\r considered as all-inclusive.

    Qualifications
    High School\r Diploma or GED, Required.
    Completion of a\r Unit Secretary Training Program or equivalent in experience, Required.
    1-2 years'\r Experience as a unit secretary, including experience in an acute care\r facility, Preferred.
