    Job DescriptionCompensation: $46,000 - $48,000
    FLSA Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

    Position Summary

    Processes title applications, process Person's with Disability applications, issues motor vehicle registration documents, validation tabs, and permits by confirming a customer's identity and county of residence, verifying the accuracy of submitted documentation, determining the correct type of title and license to issue, and ensuring compliance with governmental statutes, rules, and regulations. Assesses, calculates, and collects license fees, a variety of applicable taxes, and other related fees based on an analysis of each customer transaction. Responds to customer questions/issues such as licensing and titling procedures, duplicate titles, rebuilt from salvage and salvage titles, abandoned vehicle, off-highway, special mobile machinery, low speed electric vehicle and rebuilders title transactions; understand and communicate the various and multiple forms, procedures and costs involved in successfully obtaining a title. Assist customers in acquiring titles when original titles are not available through the bonding or in lieu of bonding procedures.

    Essential Function
    • Under general supervision, the technician will examine and analyze legal documentation submitted for motor vehicle titling and registration
    • The technician will conduct face-to-face interactions while verifying Secure and Verifiable identification (SVID), ensuring accuracy, and enforcing compliance within appropriate statutory regulations
    • Handles and performs self-audits and reconciliation on a daily basis, handling U.S. currency, checks and credit cards
    • All Clerk & Recorder employees are required to work Elections in any capacity that is needed during Elections
    • Must perform quality work and perform at an acceptable level of productivity based on the standards set for employees
    • Must be able to balance within a certain time-frame and provide excellent customer service
    • Complete DRIVES and Election training.
    • Technicians are required to use independent judgment in order to determine the validity of legal documents.
    • Assists citizens with Statutory Mandates and Department of Revenue directives.
    • Works to resolve complex transactions utilizing intercession and problem resolution skills, with sensitivity to the citizen's needs and expectations.
    • Technician may be asked to perform additional duties. Other duties include, but are not limited to, cross training in other Clerk & Recorder divisions, and marriage license and civil union license processes.
    • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
    • Ability to become deputized and take an oath.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain Colorado Notary Certification.

    All Lake County Employees may be required to work as a Disaster Service Worker when a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by the Board of County Commissioners. To be prepared for this role, all employees and emergency service function (ESF) leads will attend emergency management trainings and exercises as requested by the Director of Emergency Management. With advanced notification from OEM, employees will make reasonable efforts to attend training events in coordination with other employees and supervisors.

    Requirements
    • High School Graduate
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Excel and Word or equivalent.
    • Proven capability to learn new and complicated software programs.
    • Excellent customer service skills including delivering and promoting exceptional internal and external customer service; handling customer dissatisfaction in a tactful, clear, and courteous manner; remaining calm and focused on stressful situations.
    • Excellent organizational skills including setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and following up on assignments with minimal direction.
    • Ability to be a team player with a positive, adaptable, flexible attitude.
    • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing; express facts and ideas in a clear, convincing, and organized manner using proper grammar.
    • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are desirable.
    • Ability to multi-task and perform with frequent interruptions.
    • Ability to exercise proper office and telephone etiquette.
    • Ability to complete continuing education courses when necessary.
    • Ability to work independently.
    Physical Activity & Work Environment
    • Ability to work indoors in an office environment with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer.
    • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
    • Ability to see close up and far away, with or without glasses or contacts.
    • Ability to work outdoors in inclement, hot, or cold weather as required by attendance of County events or local emergencies.
