    **Construction General Manager (Project Director)**

    at Petra San Francisco, CA **Our Mission**

    Petra's mission is to protect communities by moving utilities underground. The company is developing technology to efficiently and safely bore utility tunnels through any geology. Petra has developed a hard rock microtunneling solution that is less expensive and more reliable than conventional methods, making small-diameter utility undergrounding through bedrock economically viable.

    **The Role**

    The Construction General Manager will be in charge of all construction efforts at Petra, from hiring construction field teams, bidding through project closeout, to working closely with senior leadership.

    **About you**

    You have years of experience in the trenchless construction space. You know trenchless equipment well and have a history of using trenchless methods in the field. You have hired your own field teams in the past and know how to hire for success. You are able to adapt and develop quick solutions when one is not readily available. You have an understanding of topics ranging from field mobilization, trenchless equipment, labor/hiring, bonding, project requirements and pre-qualifications, and have a vast network of contacts to leverage to get the job done.

    **Responsibilities**

    The Construction General Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the companys construction projects. They will be expected to:

    Identify and execute multiple projects, with a focus on markets in California, Texas and DC, from the bidding through project closeout.

    Hire a field team, with an understanding of the local licenses and permits that are required to successfully bid on projects

    Provide best-in-class coaching, leadership, and direction to high-performing Construction, Estimating, and Operations teams (both in house and subcontracted).

    Leverage a vast network of subcontractors and other partners.

    Build and maintain a culture of continued excellence through individual and team growth.

    Effectively lead customer meetings.

    Exercise independent initiative in researching and analyzing current and emerging industry trends shaping construction and operations.

    Work seamlessly with other Senior Leadership and cross-functional teams, using team building and a collaborative approach to drive internal process improvement and external growth activities.

    Complete P&L responsibility for company-wide construction operations

    **Requirements**

    The candidate must have led multiple projects in the past 5 years requiring either HDD or mTBM, and ideally both (big plus). Additionally:

    Bachelor's Degree with construction management, operations management, or technology education. Equivalent experience or training may substitute for the education requirement. Master's Degree preferred.

    Engineering experience, including supervising turnkey infrastructure deployments, is a plus.

    10 years or more previous experience with underground and aerial construction.

    Working experience and vendor relationships in at least 3 markets, ideally in/around DC, California or Texas.

    Ideal candidate should be able to tap into a network of rig operators, vendors, as well as demonstrate expertise of prevailing rates and permitting.

    Strategic leader who is forward thinking and will understand the applicability of cutting-edge construction technologies.

    Must have the ability to forecast start and completion dates as well as identify issues that will impact the schedule.

    Required experience leading high-functioning field operation teams.

    Familiarity with work and safety programs.

    Familiarity with telecom equipment, design, and construction techniques (or similar).

    Experience scaling in-house and subcontracted teams.

    Accustomed to managing a larger regional or national footprint.

    Strong experience with P&L, estimating, bid, and proposal.
