    Job Title: Authorization Specialist

    Job Duties:

    • Manage the intake process for patients scheduled to undergo EEG procedures, ensuring all necessary patient information is collected accurately and efficiently.
    • Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, including intake forms, medical history, and any relevant documentation required for EEG procedures.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, referring physicians, and other healthcare providers, addressing inquiries, providing information, and ensuring a clear flow of communication regarding EEG procedures and expectations throughout the intake process.
    • Verify patients' insurance coverage for EEG services, obtain any necessary pre-authorization or approvals when required, and communicate financial information to patients.
    • Monitor and track the progress of referrals to ensure that patients receive the appropriate care promptly, providing regular updates to both patients and referring providers.
    • Maintain databases and electronic health records systems to keep track of referral-related information and outcomes.
    • Ensure that the referral process adheres to all applicable healthcare regulations, policies, and quality standards. Collaborate with healthcare staff to identify and resolve any issues or bottlenecks in the referral workflow.
    • Receive and process requests for patient medical records from various sources, including patients, healthcare providers, legal entities, and insurance companies.
    • Ensure the secure and confidential handling of medical records to protect patient privacy and comply with regulatory standards, such as HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act).

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Prior experience in a healthcare environment, particularly in roles involving patient intake, scheduling, or coordination.
    • Familiarity with insurance verification and authorization processes.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
    • Proficiency in using computer systems and relevant software for data entry and record-keeping.
    • Exceptional organizational abilities and attention to detail.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare procedures.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure healthcare environment.
