Job Title: Garden Store Lead

Accountability: Garden Store Leads reports to the Retail Services Manager

Job Classification: Part-time, hourly, non-exempt - benefits eligible

About: Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden inspires a love of nature and its beauty through unforgettable outdoor experiences. The nearly 400 acres of Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden provides visitors with a chance to reconnect with nature in all seasons. The property welcomes guests to spectacular gardens, a conservatory dedicated to the display of tropical plants and orchids, sparkling fountains, nearly 6 miles of trails and a dog park.

The Garden Store Lead is an integral member of the retail services team and is primarily responsible for assisting with the oversight and management of the retail store. The Garden Store Lead will ensure that products and services offered through the Garden Store are current and relevant to the Garden experience and meets the needs of our guests, while ultimately providing a source of revenue for the Garden. An ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, superb attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, management and motivational skills and represent the organization in the highest form.

Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and some holidays.

Responsibilities:

· Understands the importance of each guest to the Garden and drives excellence to ensure an optimal experience in every way.

· Develops, maintains, and leads a standard of excellence throughout the Garden Store so to represent the highest quality of customer service.

· Ensures the overall retail processes are structured to meet the needs of all guests and maximizes their opportunities at the Garden.

· Serves as the manager on duty as needed, representing the Garden, and serving as the point person to oversee general operations, opening, and closing, and making general decisions on behalf of the Garden as necessary.

· Provides supervision and oversight to the garden store team, scheduling, leading group projects, department initiatives, daily production management.

· Serves as first point of contact for staff scheduling updates, disruptions, and call-ins.

· Provides support, decisions and solutions on requests or conflicts that arise in guest relations.

· Oversees and effectively delegates opening and closing duties in accordance with standard operating procedures.

· Collaborates with the Retail Services Manager to integrate sale of beer, wine, soft drinks and food in the Garden Store as appropriate.

· Ensures that all communication and new product and promotion pieces are up to date and available for both staff and guests.

· Manages product and supply inventories including regular counts and assisting management with fulfillment needs and requests.

· Manages and maintains the preferred information systems for scheduling, tracking and revenue reporting.

· Supports all Garden programs and events.

· Exemplifies the Garden Mission Statement and supports staff, departments and leadership in pursuing and achieving goals.

· Performs any other duties needed to help drive to our vision, fulfill our mission, and abide by our values.

· Exhibits a passion for the mission of Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.

· Successfully pass a standard background review.

· Must obtain the ABC Responsible Alcohol Seller/Server Training and Certificate before first shift executing the responsibilities of

this position.

· Able to work nights, weekends, and some holidays.

· Must possess a valid driver's license.

· Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with a diverse audience.

· Ability to work in a team yet also independently.

Experience & Education:

· Minimum of a high school diploma

· Minimum of 3 years in customer service or sales.

· Retail management experience required to include scheduling and staffing, merchandising, cash management, inventory control, vendor relationships, and budget creation and adherence.

· Excellent customer service and telephone skills.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to make financial assessments regarding sales, goals, etc.

· Computer skills including Square, Microsoft Outlook and Paylocity experience preferred.
