    KEATON'S CHILD CANCER ALLIANCE SEEKS DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

    Keaton's Child Cancer Alliance provides emotional, educational, and financial support to children with cancer and their members of their families.     Job Summary

    The Development Director (DD) serves in an exempt position under the direction of the Executive Director (ED) of Keaton's Child Cancer Alliance (KCCA). The DD is charged with maximizing revenues to KCCA by seeking private and public contributions to increase KCCA's reach and effectives. The DD is responsible for managing and implementing strategies for fundraising events, annual partnerships, and planned giving among all categories of current and potential donors.

    The DD works with a high degree of independence while maintaining frequent and consistent communications with the ED. The DD must possess an understanding of current philanthropic best practices and take an active interest in public relations and branding activities. The DD will plan, manage, and implement advancement practices that effectively encourage, engage, and facilitate internal and external support of Keaton's Child Cancer Alliance. The DD shall advocate and assist in implementing the philosophy, values, and policies of the organization to achieve KCCA's mission, vision, and organizational goals.

    Essential Functions


    • Plan, manage and implement fundraising strategies for annual fundraising efforts, major gifts, planned gifts, specific projects, grants, and/or philanthropic programs;


    • Develop and present formatted and/or customized requests for donations from current and potential donors;


    • Participate as directed by the ED in the coordination of publications, direct and electronic mail and website promotions, and other materials needed to optimize all fundraising efforts;


    • Work with organization leadership to identify funding strategies for specific projects and fundraising techniques, including marketing strategies and a consistent comprehensive development program;


    • Work with Executive Director, other team members, the Board of Directors, ambassador groups and volunteers on directed fundraising, acknowledgment, and stewardship efforts;


    • Work with KCCA team in the maintenance of donor and prospect records and mailing lists for programs related to fundraising strategies and campaigns;


    • Compile, analyze, and report statistical and financial data;


    • Work with KCCA team as part of a comprehensive donor stewardship system, including prospect research, event participation, and maintaining database information;


    • Participate in Board and other committees and processes as directed;


    • Represent KCCA in partnership collaboratives in community, governmental, and professional organizations as directed; and


    • Perform other related duties as required.

    Qualifications

    Education


    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university desirable and preferred; highly successful experience in non-profit development/fundraising may be considered in lieu.


    • Master's degree preferred.

    Experience


    • Minimum of three-to-five years successful fundraising experience;


    • Demonstrated background in meeting or exceeding fundraising goals and objectives;


    • Direct experience and success in face-to-face, online, and written gift

    presentations from individuals, grant providers, and corporations;


    • Strong track record with prospect research, outreach and donor stewardship;


    • Experience planning and implementing donor cultivation and stewardship events;


    • Experience managing multiple priorities while maintaining a positive demeanor and collaborative attitude;


    • Interest in non-profit, community-based efforts, and a desire to promote KCCA's

    fundraising priorities;


    • Background in understanding the diverse, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic

    backgrounds of the communities served.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


    • Broad knowledge of the principles of fundraising – able to participate in all aspects of the gift cycle; general knowledge of tax laws that impact charitable giving;


    • Ability to understand the needs, experiences, and interests of donors in order to develop personalized, mutually beneficial relationships;


    • Understanding of nonprofit business and administrative principles, practices, and procedures;


    • Excellent MS Office skills and knowledge of donor database systems;


    • Familiar with current technologies and use of traditional, social, and electronic media;


    • Stellar interpersonal skills with a focus on initiating, building, and nurturing internal and external relationships;


    • Tactful, diplomatic, and discreet with confidential information;


    • Excellent oral and written communication skills;


    • Team-oriented with a high level of energy, enthusiasm, and an entrepreneurial spirit; and


    • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends when necessary.

    Salary & Benefits

    The salary range for the DD position is $80,000-$85,000 annually, depending on background and experience. Performance incentives may be negotiable. Excellent benefits including paid time off (PTO) and sick leave, medical insurance, and 12 holidays.

    Keaton's Child Cancer Alliance supports children and their families receiving medical care at the following partnering hospitals: UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, Sutter Health Sacramento, Kaiser Permanente Roseville & Oakland, UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland & San Francisco, and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford. In addition, KCCA collaborates with over 230 businesses and organizations as Alliance Partners in fulfilling the organization's mission.

    With the increased demands for these vital services throughout Northern California, Keaton's will play a fundamental role in programmatic development, service delivery, resource sharing, and workforce development.
