    Job Description Salary:


    The Knitting Operations Specialist is responsible for reviewing, creating and recording the information needed for Knitting to create the material for a garment in each stage of the knitting process from Proto to Swatches to creating the Roadman.


    They fill in the program name, identify the machine to knit the garment, review yarn and grain counts, string up sheets and complete all information needed on the spec sheet.

    Any corrections or updates are made to improve product and process and create efficiency.


    They assign knitting operations and instructions, record timings and processes and keep track of the flow of product in knitting.


    Purpose of the Job:

    Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

    Complete the Proto spec sheets by identifying the knitting program, machine to run it on, the yarn and grain counts and fill in the document.

    Make string up and write-ups for standards that have been established or for new programs that have been written.

    Load tickets on the knitting machine in priority order, run the delivery request quantity (DRQ) to request yarn from the warehouse.

    Maintain the Sample Board by style picture so there is a visual of where the garment is located, number of styles completed and then number still in process.

    Record production minutes by style into the spreadsheet for costing and efficiency evaluation
    Set up knitting routings (operations)
    Enter the number of cones on the swatch pages.
    Verify that all information on the swatch cards and spec sheets match what was actually knit (write-ups, string-ups, timings, and standard numbers)

    Cost Roll Up:
    Check costs and the ideal machines for all components. Make changes if needed.

    Swatches:
    Make string up sheets for all colors ordered; create a write up for item to knit – front, back, yardage; load on machine and order yarn; enter knitting information in spreadsheet and update the sample board


    Education and Required Skills:
    Strong attention to detail and follow-through skills.
    Capable of learning computer
    Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
    Ability to constructively address issues and problems.
    Excellent organizational, planning and prioritization skills
    Exhibits strong problem solving, deductive reasoning and decision-making skills
