    Job DescriptionPosition:

    The Associate Dean of the School of Engineering is a key leadership position, requiring a balance of administrative, academic, and interpersonal skills. The Associate Dean must have a passion for fostering academic excellence, a dedication to student success, and the ability to lead in a dynamic and collaborative academic environment.

    Stipend: Calculated % of base salary

    Key Responsibilities:
    1. Supports the Dean in executing the school's mission, promoting academic excellence, and enhancing the overall student experience within the school;
    Academic Leadership:
    1. Collaborates with the Dean to set and executes the academic vision, goals, and strategic plans for the School of Engineering;
    2. Supports the engineering programs in curriculum development, implementation, and assessment to ensure academic rigor and relevance;
    3. Develops and coordinates the First Year Experience (FYE) for the School of Engineering;
    4. Ensures compliance with academic and institutional policies and accreditation standards;
    5. Works with the engineering programs and the Office of Admissions in planning, developing, and executing on and off campus events for prospective students;
    6. Works with the Dean and other units of the College in planning, developing, and executing events for new and transfer students, such as orientation and informational sessions;
    7. Assists the Dean and the engineering programs in liaising with the Board of Advisors. Plan and attend the Board of Advisor meetings in the fall and spring semesters;
    8. Participates in the Department Chairs' meetings and any other school-wide administrative meetings
    Student Success:
    1. Collaborates with the Dean, the engineering programs, and the Centralized Advising Office to support academic and faculty advising to ensure student retention;
    2. Supports the Dean with student initiatives, cocurricular activities, and opportunities for student research or interdisciplinary projects;
    3. Addresses student concerns, academic integrity issues, contribute to conflict resolution, and maintain a supportive academic environment;
    4. Advises the Dean on contested grade cases;
    5. Supports the Dean and the Centralized Advising Office by identifying and advising regarding academic determinations (probation/contract/suspension/dismissal);
    6. Assists the Dean with addressing parent concerns involving curricular matters;
    7. Assists faculty moderators of honor societies in identifying qualified student candidates;
    8. Manages the selection process for student recipients of various school-level scholarships and recognitions
    Administrative Management:
    1. Collaborates with the Dean and the engineering programs to develop and implement policies and procedures to help facilitate academic program changes;
    2. Serves as a resource for programs on the creation and revision of minors and concentrations within the School of Engineering and with other schools;
    3. Monitors course enrollments to ensure institutional goals and standards;
    4. Helps coordinate policies and procedures for transfer credit evaluations with the relevant units across campus;
    5. Supports the Dean, the engineering programs and the administrative staff, to ensure efficient operations within the School of Engineering;
    6. Signs off on student paperwork such as grade change forms, grade replacement forms, off-campus course approval forms, independent study forms, and any relevant student paperwork;
    Internal and External Partnerships:
    1. Fosters relationships with external partners, alumni, and industry leaders to create opportunities with engineering and related industries for internships, mentorships, research collaborations, and funding;
    2. Develops and manages internal and external articulation agreements across schools and with other institutions;
    3. Assists the Dean in identifying and establishing pathways to new articulations;
    Research and Development:
    1. Supports faculty and student research initiatives, grant applications, and interdisciplinary collaborations;
    2. Encourages innovation, scholarly activities, and the integration of new technologies and pedagogy into academic programs to support student outcomes and retention.
    Qualifications:

    The applicant shall be a tenured faculty member in the School of Engineering (preferably holding the rank of Professor) at Manhattan College. The individual will not hold any other administrative responsibility (such as Department Chair, Graduate Program Director, etc.) at the College concurrently with the Associate Dean position.

    Compensation:

    The Associate Dean will receive course release and a separate administrative stipend during the summer. This will be a 12-month appointment. The initial appointment will be for one year and has the possibility for renewal.
