Job Description: Recreational Therapy Aide

Summary: Coordinates and provides daily therapeutic activities for residents of the skilled nursing facility. THIS IS A FULL-TIME POSITION.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to
meet department and facility needs.

• Interact positively and enthusiastically with residents, their families and fellow
  employees.
• Plan, gather supplies and conduct therapeutic recreational activities for residents.
• Complete participation charting of activities on a daily basis.
• Assist in brainstorming activity ideas that address residents' physical, social,
  emotional, spiritual and cognitive needs.
• Conduct one on one interview with residents to assess interest and personal
  preference of activities.
• Assist in maintaining, updating and providing progress notes for resident activity care
  plans.
• Assist with volunteer program for the facility.
• Drive company vehicle for resident outings on occasion.
• Upholds confidentiality of protected health information.

Job requirements

• Education - Requires high school degree or equivalent
• Therapeutic Recreation Technician License (Needed within 9 months of hire date-
  cost will be covered by Sunshine Terrace)
• Experience - Prefer previous experience with geriatric population Requires excellent interpersonal communication skills and willingness to work as a
  team.
• Requires standard driver license with acceptable motor vehicle record.

Supervisory and Reporting Responsibilities

• Reports directly to Recreation Therapy Director
