Position Summary:
Performs digital mammograms of the breast at a
technical level that will produce high quality mammographic images consistent
with established policies & procedures at a technical level typically
requiring general supervision.
May perform
breast imaging procedures.
Job Specific Dutiesand Responsibilities:
1.
Specializes
in the production of screening and diagnostic mammograms for the detection of
breast tumors.
Obtains patient history,explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concernstofoster a sense of comfort and confidence to patients and ensure the needsof individual patients are met.
Operates and maintains all assigned mammographyequipment to ensure it works properly.
Positions patients and moves mammographicequipment to specific positions and adjusts controls to set exposurefactors based on knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques andprotocols. Correctly captures the images requested by a physician.
Completes quality assurance processes andpractices radiation safety in order to reduce exposure to patients, staffand self.
Qualifications:
Required:
High School diploma or GED
Graduation from an AMA-approved school of Radiology Technology
Certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT)
Certified in Mammography by American Registry of Radiologic Technologist
Current BLS certification
Preferred:
Associates Degree in radiology
