The Project Engineer will be responsible for providing technical and project leadership to Charleston manufacturing site. Lead the development of cost improvement and CAPEX programs based on needs. Also, will require focus on Vesuvius Corporate expectations to prevent problems and strive for continuous improvement. Position will assist in plant operations contributing towards improving manufacturing efficiencies by utilizing Lean techniques. Key Result Areas:

• Coordinate and lead all major plant projects and CAPEX programs
• Report monthly to management on CAPEX project status and costs
• Leader in plant continuous improvement activities Job Description – Project Lean Engineer
• Participate in new product/process reviews including risk assessments/safe work procedures/job hazard analysis and physical demand analysis
• Will be responsible for managing and leading continuous improvement projects, as well as mentoring and coaching.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools and methodology in the implementation of manufacturing excellence initiatives.
• Manage a portfolio of lean projects directed at reducing waste and improving quality to provide greater valve; implements such tools as: 5S, KPI, SMED, VSM, and Kaizen.
• Train and lead continuous improvement teams; focusing on measurable quality, service and cost improvements
• Trains, coaches and motivates personnel in the understanding and adoption of new principles and techniques.
• Drives the standardization of processes and the implementation of metrics and best practices.
• Assist in setting annual operational targets and help drive improvements to achieve those targets.

Qualifications:
Bachelor of industrial engineering or mechanical engineering


Experience:
Two to five years of experience in a manufacturing environment at similar positions.

Experience working with ISO9000 Standards and OSHA/HSE guidelines preferred.


Knowledge:
Knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools. Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Waste reduction methods OSHA Specific training a plus.


Skills & Behavior:
Excellent computer skills i.e., Windows, Microsoft Office. Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels within organization Ability to facilitate effective meetings. Advises management in areas of non-compliance Leadership Skills


Problem Solving & Complexity:
Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills based on objective data available. Superior organizational skills with the ability to prioritize assignments focus on details and adhere to established deadlines. Capable of working independently or in a team atmosphere.
