    Here's how this role will help:

    As a Data Architect II, you will be responsible for serving as a high-level technical expert, responsible for acting as a thought leader, devising and recommending strategic and innovative data platform solutions within the Enterprise Data Analytics (EDA) organization. You will develop and orchestrate the research, planning and implementation of the core enterprise data strategies, architectures, decisions and actions in support of strategic business initiatives from data perspective. You will partner with cross-functional teams providing technical and functional guidance to identify gaps and define and propose solutions. You will work individually under minimum supervision to device instruments, technology choices, data models/designs and technical solutions to satisfy needs cross both technical and business teams. You will collaborate with the IT infrastructure group to create and maintain a roadmap to select and deploy technology solutions.

    Accountability for the role includes developing and communicating data architectural roadmaps that support and fulfill the business strategy, and ensuring individual projects align with the larger roadmap goals. The objective of this role is to design and validate data solutions that are practical, flexible, scalable, reusable and strategic. These efforts enhance data quality, enrich access and provide business decision makers with information upon which they can make more accurate and effective decisions.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities
    • Work with Executive Leaders to define overall vision, strategy, security and roadmap for Data Platforms including Data Lakehouse, Snowflake, AzureSQL, Change Data Capture, and ELT.
    • Works in tandem with the broader Enterprise Architecture group to align Data Platform strategies and roadmaps
    • Strategic understanding of operating platforms such as Windows, Linux, Unix, and Mainframe
    • Best practice knowledge for Data Curation (ETL/ELT), Data Security, Archival, Backup/Recovery, Disaster Recovery, Availability/Uptime
    • Architects, designs, prototypes and implements platform concepts and technologies. Defines and executes proof of concept, proof of technology and pilot activities in support of rationalizing and vetting technologies to confirm business value and support internal funding process/approvals
    • Provides input into long-range platform requirements and operational guidelines.
    • Design, develop and promote efficient, intuitive and robust practices to drive platform deployment and configuration automation initiatives, standards and roadmaps.
    • Define structural and functional standards for data assets across data platforms. Design and deliver data management best practices and implement such practice by working with both business and IT organizations.
    • Work closely with vendor and market representation to ensure visibility to technology trends that are beneficial to Supervalu.
    • Partners with Products platform engineering groups to provide architecture documentation, standards documentation, and all typical design and architecture documentation of all new architecture and design decisions.
    • Defines platform management standards and works with the appropriate technical teams on the implementation and delivery to prod and non-prod environments.
    • Oversees the adherence to the set of company-wide platform infrastructure standards and practices.
    Experience and Education
    • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or equivalent
    • 7+ years with IT experience in architecture design, process engineering, database, middleware, operations and architecture
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting highly conceptual designs to executives, mid-level management, fellow architects, engineers and developers
    • Expert level knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems
    • In-depth knowledge of Data Lakes, Enterprise Data Warehouses, Snowflake, data integration (ETL), and AzureSQL/SQL Server database platforms
    • Strong knowledge of security concepts and ability to apply those concepts into practice in a proxy, database, and Operating System environment
    • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve performance and interconnectivity issues
    • Knowledge of migrating platforms and processes from data center to cloud solutions.
    • Understand the benefits and trade-offs of infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and software as a service (SaaS) and be willing to participate in decision-making regarding tool selection.
    • Good judgment, strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, and a finely tuned balance of technical purity and pragmatism.
    • Tolerant of high degrees of ambiguity, good at resolving uncertainty, willing to backtrack and seek multiple solutions.
    • Excels at grasping existing data architecture and identifying opportunities to improve and to transition existing data architecture to align with the needs of a modular platform.
    • Ideally the candidate will be experienced with or have exposure to these tools and technologies: SQL, Snowflake, Data Modeling, Azure, SQL Server/AzureSQL, JSON, XML, Streamsets, Python, SSIS, PowerBI, API development, Java, .NET
