- Works with attorneys and paralegals to prepare client and matter engagement letters with the correct rate schedules and other pertinent information and communicates with clients as needed to collect all necessary information.
- Onboarding new clients by filling out necessary paperwork
- Entering client information into computer systems
- Ensure that all company policies and procedures are adhered to regarding rates, engagement letters and conflict checks.
- Conduct conflict checks in accordance with company policies in a timely fashion utilizing multiple systems for comparison.
- Supporting supervisory and executive staff by performing any assigned accounting and clerical tasks
- Assist senior accounting personnel with any tasks conducted within the accounting department, or any tasks that require accounting personnel to take part.
- Strong attention to detail is required to be successful in this position.
- The ability to act responsibly and ethically when working with sensitive financial information, whether it's information for the company or for individuals.
- Solid communication skills, with proficiency in speaking and writing.
- Computer literacy, as accounting clerks are responsible for keying information into various computers and software programs.
- Strong people skills – a polite and professional demeanor when working with clients, other companies, as well as consumers and coworkers.
- The willingness and ability to comply with legal professional ethical obligations, as well as the regulations established by the company itself
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word & Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Clio and Cognito forms is preferred.
- Legal Secretary experience a plus
- Familiarity with legal documents and terminology
- An understanding of accounting terms and ability to understand basic financial statements is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent required, with some bookkeeping coursework.
- Paralegal certificate or equivalent work experience desired.
- Associate or bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or related field a plus.
- Three to five years of related experience required.
- Knowledge of general accounting principles.
- An ability to prioritize and manage expectations.
- A keen eye for detail
- An ability to work independently.
- The ability to communicate articulately and efficiently with other people within the firm.
- Ability to sit or stand for up to 8 hours a day.
- Ability to hear and respond to conversations professionally.
- Ability to use a mouse, keyboard.
- Ability to handle varying stress levels (low, moderate, high, very high) and maintain professional composure.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

This position's responsibilities include handling all new client and matter intake in an efficient and expeditious manner in conformance with company policies.
