- Properly prepares items for flash sterilization.
- Properly receives medication to the sterile field.
- Properly identifies and handles sutures and needles.
- Performs surgical counts (sponges, needles, others) per policy.
- Demonstrates emergency sterilization and disinfection methods correctly.
- Properly identifies, handles and counts instruments per established department policy.

- Properly transfers patients to the OR table and assists with correct positioning for surgery.
- Demonstrates knowledge of scrubbing skills in Obstetric procedures such as Cesarean Sections.
- Complies with all risk reduction procedures to prevent a fire in the OR setting, including safety practices associated with Laser and electro-surgery.
- Efficiently performs room preparation. Collects supplies, equipment and instrumentation as necessary for preparation of surgical cases as well as vaginal delivery cases.
- Anticipates the surgeon s instrumentation and equipment needs during a case; anticipates when a case deviates from the normal and is able to promote a smooth transition.
- High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
- Completion of an accredited Certified Surgical Tech training program
- Certified Surgical Tech by (NBSTSA) National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
- Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association required.
- Must have minimum one-year recent experience working as a Surgical Tech in an acute care hospital setting.
- Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal and demonstrated writing skills.

We are currently looking for a Certified Surgical Technologist for the Labor and Delivery & OB Educ.Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the Surgical Tech assists the OR team in the scrub role during surgical/invasive procedures and assists in the preparation of the surgical suite area between cases.
