    Job Summary:

    Radiology Technologist works under the direction of a Radiologist, performing a variety of routine and complex diagnostic radiology procedures for the purpose of diagnosing abnormalities.

    Functions and Duties:

    • Positions, explains procedure and sets technical factors for the appropriate examination.
    • Performs routine radiographs of skull, chest, pelvis, spine, abdomen and extremities for diagnosis of abnormalities
    • Receives and evaluates physician orders with patient history and information.
    • Assist radiologist in fluoroscopy and spot film examinations which require administration of contrast material: eg, gastrointestinal series, barium enemas, pyelograms, joint injections and cholangiograms.
    • Prepares contrast media and administers to patient.
    • Operates fixed and mobile radiographic equipment.
    • Coordinates patient information with PACS and EMR to save data and radiation dose.
    • Performs all other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Education

    • Graduate of an AMA approved radiology program required.

    Experience

    • 1 year preferred.

    Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

    • Basic life support certification required.
    • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiology (R) required.
    • Illinois Emergency Management Agency certification to perform Radiology required.

    Skills and Abilities

    • Strong knowledge in anatomy and image critic preferred.

    Sitting

    Job requires sitting for extended periods of time.

    Walking

    Job requires employee to walk considerable distances, to and from work area.

    Lifting

    Job requires employee to raise or lower up to 25 lbs. from one level to another.

    Pulling/Pushing

    Job requires exerting force up to 50 lbs. to move an object to or away from employee.

    Job requires the employee to grasp/pick up items and reach for objects.
