    Examine patient and perform initial patient work-up and assessment of patient's care and treatment.

    • Provide primary care and preventive services to healthy individuals, including guidance in common illnesses, accidents, child growth and development, alternative drugs usage, etc.
    • Develop new techniques and establish criteria for providing improved, quality patient health care to clients and family members of the Medical Center.
    • Provide consultation, teaching, and coordination with patients and their family members regarding treatment and medical care.

    • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
    • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
    • This position may require the incumbent to work during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.

    A graduate or higher-level degree from an accredited professional nursing educational program in Family Practice is required.

    This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.Graduates of foreign nursing schools must have completed the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools Certification Program.

    The certification program consists of a credentials evaluation, the CGFNS Qualifying Exam, and evidence of passing one of the approved English Language Proficiency examinations.

    A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse in the specialty of Family Practice or related specialty from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

    Note:

    Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.

    Active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.


    Professional Nursing Experience:

    One or more full years of professional nursing experience which includes performing physical examinations and either diagnosing diseases or prescribing medications.

    This definition of professional nursing experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

    Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

    • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
    • Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
    • Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.
    • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.
    • The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.
