What You Will Do
This is technical managerial position providing technical leadership, managerial oversight, administrative and technical leadership responsibility for our embedded software engineering team in the planning, designing, coordinating, monitoring and execution of new and current biomedical products.
You will be responsible for software in high-level system designs, software requirements definition, integration of software deliverables, acceptance planning and reporting.
Acts as the focal integrator for outsourced or contracted software deliverables on product development and sustaining projects.You will lead an embedded software engineering team on major programs to develop new medical devices or accessories or modify existing devices or accessories.
You will manage team members including organizational planning, goal setting, and talent development. You will support the recruitment, training and development of team members to achieve long-range growth objectives.You will provide training, coaching, and guidance to direct staff to ensure expected results and commitments are met.
You will develop the appropriate skills and competencies in the team based on current and future technical and leadership requirements.
You will be involved in vendor selection and management.
You will engage in definition and documentation of software requirements.
You will define and execute acceptance activities for outsource or contracted deliverables.
You will oversee multiple vendors' activities simultaneously.
You will be releasing product software to our corporate PLM system.
You will manage all configurations and versions of product software.
What You Will Need
Bachelor's degree in applicable discipline.
10+ years highly applicable and relevant experience (preferably in a regulated environment).
Experience within embedded software design and development highly preferred.
What We Would Love You to Have (Preferred)
Experience in leading both local and remote teams.
Strong technical skills and commensurate leadership in the applicable discipline together with excellent interpersonal and administrative skills.
Experience working as part of an integrated, multidisciplinary engineering management team.
Knowledge of modern product development and project engineering principles, methods and practices.
Working knowledge of other related disciplines and manufacturing processes, planning, budgeting, staffing, controlling.
Excellent verbal and written documentation and communication skills.
Knowledge of project management principles and techniques.
Strong ability to influence individuals and groups.
Knowledge of good architectural design methodologies and patterns.
Time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Demonstrated ability to determine and meet project objectives.
Demonstrated leadership experience in overseeing safety-critical software (preferably for medical devices).
Demonstrated advanced knowledge of C and C++.
Demonstrated advanced knowledge of software presentation layer technologies.
Demonstrated advanced knowledge of software data management designs and implementations.
Demonstrated knowledge of software connectivity and interoperability.
Demonstrated understanding of and ability to follow good software development processes.
Personable, able to work well in an open team environment and with outsource partners.
