    Description

    PRIMARY PURPOSE:

    The primary responsibility of the Gourmet Food Server is to take and deliver customer orders, maintain tables, guest satisfaction and finalize checks. The food server is also responsible for performing side work and general cleaning of assigned stations.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Greet guest in a positive, friendly manner and make them feel welcome
    • Guide guest through all phases of their experience at the restaurant
    • Knowledgeable of selling techniques, service delivery of both non and alcoholic beverages, and service delivery of menu items of every course
    • Itemize bills correctly and efficiently secure payment
    • Maintain cleanliness and stock of assigned area, side station, tables and Point of Sale (POS) station
    • Anticipate the guest needs and respond appropriately with a sense of urgency
    • Communicate with management, chef and culinary staff in order to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guest and or employees

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Knowledge of standard kitchen equipment and supplies, including, but not limited to toasters, refrigerators, and coolers, slicers and beverage machines
    • Knowledge of menu items, including characteristics of wine and champagne by the glass, major wines, liquor brands, beer, non-alcoholic beverages, designated glassware, terminology, and garnishes
    • Knowledge of health, safety and sanitation regulations
    • Basic knowledge of Point of Sale (POS) systems and computer software to include Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as office equipment, i.e. telephone, copier, fax machine
    • Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Work varied shifts, to include weekends and holidays

    PREFERRED:

    • Five (5) years of Food and Beverage experience in a high-paced environment with food service experience
    • Wine certification/education
    • Experience working in a similar resort setting
