- Promotes and supports the mission, vision, and values of Chugach Tribal Services.
- Works with the board to craft strategic vision, then aligns resources in order to deliver on the vision.
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships with members of Chugach Tribal Services's Board of Directors and other key stakeholders including Chugach Region tribal, non-profit and village corporation leadership.
- Prepare, review and approve all presentation materials for quarterly Board of Directors meetings, including presentations from outside sources such as Chugach Alaska Corporation, other Chugach regional non-profits and other external organizations.
- Schedules, plans and presents at Chugach Tribal Services's quarterly Board meetings.
- Represents Chugach Tribal Services at the Chugach Annual Meeting, Chugach Regional Summit, Chugach Shareholder information meetings and other community, regional and national meetings and events as appropriate to advance the CTS mission and purpose.
- Develops and maintains positive and productive relationships with stakeholders including Chugach Alaska Corporation leaders, shareholders, and their descendants, Tribal Councils in Chugach Region, Chugach region non-profits, donors, federal agencies, grant making organizations/agencies and other Alaska Native organizations and partners.
- Serves as spokesperson for Chugach Tribal Services in order to provide education and information about the organization's role, goals, objectives, philosophy, and accomplishments.
- Provides updates on Chugach Tribal Services for publication in the Chugach Alaska Corporation Shareholder Newsletter or other publications as appropriate.
- Oversees all CTS communication efforts, including social media, mailings, and website content, to ensure appropriate information both internally and externally.
- Remains up to date on nonprofit best practices and state and federal law regarding nonprofit operations.
- Ensures compliance with appropriate regulations relating to the management of a non-profit organization.
- Establishes administrative policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operation of Chugach Tribal Services.
- Manages fiscal responsibilities including creating the annual budget and operating within the approved budget. Assures accounting polices and procedures support fiscal responsibilities. Ensures maximum resource utilization and maintains the organization's positive financial position.
- Reviews and approves contracts for services and other agreements including MOA/MOU's with Chugach Alask Corporation and other Chugach Regional stakeholders.
- Fosters a positive work environment by utilizing effective techniques to supervise, train, coach and mentor employees in order to maximize personal growth opportunities.
- Implements fundraising strategies in collaboration with Chugach Tribal Services Board Members, Chugach Alaska Corporation and other stakeholders internally and externally towards long term financial sustainability.
- Oversees fundraising efforts including identifying and pursuing grants, overseeing grant writing efforts and overseeing grant management and reporting practices.
- Develops funding resources necessary to support Chugach Tribal Services's long term plan and mission.
- Supports government relations and advocacy efforts on behalf of the CTS mission.
- Oversees all aspects of programs offered by Chugach Tribal Services including, oversite of administration, planning, policies, marketing, communications, operations, and processes.
- Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.
- Knowledge of Chugach Region Alaska Native communities, regional organizations, regional non-profits and Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) regional and village corporations.
- Knowledge of the Alaska Native Culture, preferably in the Chugach Alaska Region.
- Understanding of relevant federal laws pertaining to the relationship between Alaska Native organizations and the federal government.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Skills in projecting and operating within a cost-effective budget.
- Chugach Alaska Corporation Shareholder or descendant of a Chugach Shareholder strongly preferred.
- Three (3) years' experience working for a 501c3 non-profit.
- Two (2) years minimum experience in a management position
- Understanding and experience with grant related funding and reporting requirements
- Advanced MS Office Suite skills.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration or related.
