    Description

    Job Title: Associate Planner

    MNS Engineers, Inc. (MNS) is a growing consulting firm offering various services across California.

    We are seeking an Associate Planner to support our Southern California Agency Staffing team.

    Responsibilities:

    • Support planning projects and multi-agency/multi-jurisdictional efforts.
    • Write and review staff reports, resolutions, ordinances, and present them to commissions, boards, and councils.
    • Develop long-term and short-term plans, programs, goals, and policies involving city/region wide planning initiatives.
    • Participate in the development and maintenance of the General Plan and other specialized city plans.
    • Serve as a consultant to citizen groups and stakeholders on planning policies/standards, issues, processes, procedures, zoning/rezoning issues, and environmental regulations.
    • Facilitate meetings and presentations to discuss proposed planning initiatives, assess obstacles, and determine areas of support.
    • Design and conduct research to collect and assemble original data from land use maps, plans, reports, and surveys.
    • Present at conferences to drive thought leadership and MNS name recognition.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related field.
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in progressive leadership roles with oversight of planning professionals.
    • Articulate and persuasive communicator with a high energy level.
    • Collaborative and skilled at building effective working relationships throughout the organization.
    • Ability to handle critical conversations with internal staff, managers, and leaders.
    • Valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driver's record.
