    is a PreK-8 zoned magnet school located in Chattanooga, TN. Normal Park partners with six area museums and other local businesses to enhance each student's learning experience. We believe in teaching the whole child through engaging lessons which foster inquiry and exploration, while also maintaining focus on the emotional and social health of each student. Our students take weekly learning expeditions to our museum partners to build a deeper understanding of standards. Project based learning allows teachers to be creative with their lessons and students to consider ways to solve real world problems. We have a supportive parent community who volunteer at the school, provide additional funds for resources, and additional support for students. We have recently been awarded STEM Designation and our Tennessee Civic Seal.

    We look for teachers with an excitement and spark for teaching. We desire candidates who thrive on collaboration and are also willing and confident to share new ideas. As the only prek-8 public school in town, we are able to offer relationships with students over several years and teachers can support students inside and outside the classroom.

    Responsibilities

  • Teaching & Learning - Deeply understand the Tennessee Mathematics Standards and establish clear learning targets for every lesson. Build rigorous and aligned assessments and consistently implement high leverage mathematics practices and strategies. Follow Hamilton County Schools' instructional framework, including:

  • Classroom Culture : Build a safe and productive classroom culture. Positive relationships are evident, procedures are clear, and the classroom is safe and secure for learning to unfold. Student and teacher interactions promote a growth mindset.
  • Family & Community: Consistently develop strong relationships with students' families while diligently informing parents of expectations, positive news, and/or concerns about their children. Provide opportunities for parents to be involved in their children's learning.
  • Professional Responsibilities : Actively participates in professional learning communities (PLCs) with colleagues in order to improve teaching and student learning. Reflect on instruction and leadership while contributing ideas, expertise, and time to the mission and goals of the school.

    Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience.
