    Job Description

    Responsible for the entire QA department of both plants located within walking distance of one another. As well as direct oversight of about 30 associates on both shifts. Also responsible to Develop, Validate, Verify and Maintain the Food Safety Plan, Implement overall Food Safety and Quality programs, Supervision and development of QA staff

    Duties and responsibilities
    • Implement the overall Quality Systems and Food Safety programs i.e. HACCP, GMP, Mock Recall /Traceability, Club Chef and Customer specifications
    • Monitor and enforce compliance with quality and food safety policies
    • Review QA reports for accuracy
    • Manage customers', 3rd party and plant audits
    • Manage plant environmental and finished product testing
    • Communicate with other departments resolutions to non - compliance issues
    • Supervise and coordinate technician activities
    • Manage the training of QA Technicians.
    • Oversee the development, implementation, review and maintenance
    of the SQF 2000 system.
    • Manage overall department activities
    • All other functions as assigned by management
    Qualifications
    • College degree required in food science or related area
    • Have completed HACCP training and competent to implement and maintain HACCP based Food Safety Plans
    • A Minimum of two years of HACCP and GMP experience
    • Have Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the SQF 2000 Standards
    • Minimum of two years of Customer and 3rd party GMP and Food Safety audits
    • Good written and oral communication skills
    • Computer skills, Excel, Word, Data Base management
    • Must be able to manage projects from beginning to end
    • Must be able to handle flexible schedule
    • Must have a sense of urgency
    Working conditions

    The work environment includes congested and high traffic areas, slippery floors, Walking and working is done on concrete flooring. Some duties are performed in the warehouse and will require work to be done in varying climates. Temperatures range from zero in the coolers to 95 degrees Fahrenheit or above outdoors. The shift end-time fluctuates with the employer's daily needs.

    Physical requirements
    • Must be able to work safely and effectively in confined spaces.
    • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
    • Must be able to work in very cold environment for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to bend, push, pull and lift up from 25-50lbs
