    Description

    The Systems Engineer will plan, design configure, and maintain Space Coast Credit Union enterprise server and storage environment and will manage and further develop Space Coast Credit Union private and public cloud infrastructure. They will review environment to validate implemented technologies, improve performance, reliability and ensure security practices are followed.

    This role will serve as a technical subject matter expert by actively participating in configuration consultation, vendor evaluation, and problem resolution of multiple systems. The candidate should have a clear understanding of how to research, design, implement and troubleshoot information systems, cloud technologies and technology solutions in support of business needs. Under limited supervision, the candidate will be required to effectively manage and prioritize assigned projects, design complex multi-system solutions to meet the needs of the business. They will be required to make recommendations in these areas with a high level of technical competency.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

    Responds to end user trouble calls to resolve routine application software problems or assist with hardware issues remotely when possible. Routes calls as needs for more non-routine questions. Track tickets in an incident management system to properly identify problem and resolution for a shared knowledge base or escalate and assign as needed for higher level support.

    Administers and manages the Space Coast Credit Union virtual and physical server environment, storage and related infrastructure. Ensures the systems are functioning at optimal levels. This includes the monitoring of the systems hardware and storage platform. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for managing the allocation of the physical space.

    Specifies, procures, and implements, server and storage and cloud technologies. Evaluates factors such as vendor specifications, number of departments and employees serviced by data processing equipment, volume of transactions, time requirements, cost constraints, security requirements, access restrictions and business continuity to determine hardware configurations.

    Analyzes information to determine, recommend, and plan layout for type of computers and peripheral equipment, or modifications to existing equipment and systems, that will provide capability for proposed projects/workload, efficient operation, effective use of allotted space and system recoverability.

    Maintain, optimize, and troubleshoot applications as necessary. This includes internally & vendor developed systems, VMware, Microsoft clustering, SCCM, ADFS, Enterprise storage platforms (EMC VNX and Unity), and others. Provides support to all Microsoft and technologies (i.e. Exchange) and

    Dynamic Host Control Protocol (DHCP), Dynamic Domain Name System (DNS), and other sub-systems as needed.

    Participates in information technology projects and is accountable to tasks, milestone dates and statuses.

    Documents related technical procedures, operations manuals, and other guidance. This person also acts as a liaison between Space Coast Credit Union and vendors regarding system related issues

    Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade server operating systems and applications. Recognize and troubleshoot problems with server hardware and applications software. Establish and maintain system documentation, standards and procedures.

    Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

    Strong analytical and problem solving skills are required.

    For Core Systems: Strong familiarity with SQL queries and shell scripting are required. Direct involvement with relational databases are preferred.

    Experience with FISERV DNA - Strongly preferred

    Education & Experience:

    Level I: 3to 5 years prior experience as a systems engineer or in a related position.

    A 4 year college degree Information Systems, Computer Engineering or a related academic area or equivalent experience is required.

    Level II: 5 to 8 years prior experience as a systems engineer or in a related position.

    A 4 year college degree Information Systems, Computer Engineering or a related academic area or equivalent experience is required.

    Level III: 8 to 10 years prior experience as a systems engineer or in a related position.

    A 4 year college degree Information Systems, Computer Engineering or a related academic area or equivalent experience is required.
