    Job Summary

    The Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) is looking to hire student workers to provide support services relating to the review and analysis of applications for cannabis and hemp businesses. This position will learn about agency decision making, regulatory oversight, licensing decision, and Minnesota Chapter 13 (Minnesota Data Practices Act). This is a full-time, in-office position for the months of July and August (with possible extension into September). Workers must agree to maintain confidentiality of application materials, review process, and decisions made.

    This job posting will be used to fill up to 15 positions. The projected end date of this position is August 31, 2024, with a possible extension into September 2024.

    Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) is handling the hiring of these positions which will be working for the Office of Cannabis Management as of the starting date of July 3, 2024.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    Students currently seeking a graduate program from an accredited university seeking one of the following degrees:
    • Juris Doctor
    • Master of Arts or Science (must be in a field related to agriculture, food science, or plant science)
    • Master of Business Administration
    • Master of Public Administration
    • Master of Public Health
    • Master of Public Policy/Affairs
    • An Interest in governmental affairs, public policy, business administration or similar field of study
    Student Worker Eligibility: To be eligible for appointment as a Student Worker Paraprofessional Senior you must be enrolled in a post-secondary or graduate program or plan to enroll within three months. Students may be "off" for the summer or for one semester/quarter and remain employed as a student worker, but such absences cannot exceed one semester/quarter in a year. If you are enrolled at a credit-granting institution you must carry at least six semester/nine quarter credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, you must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Any lesser credit (class) load will be treated as a semester/quarter off. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment.

    • Experience using a relational database.
    • Experience using Accela.
    • Ability to organize thoughts and provide feedback on assigned activities.
    • Self-starter who takes initiative and ownership.
