This position does not provide medical benefits.This position earns sick leave in accordance with the Healthy Families and Workplace ActPosition DescriptionThe City of Aurora is seeking a Custodial Maintenance Worker to maintain the cleanliness of the Recreation facility for its Recreation division of the Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department.
The Recreation division provides fun recreational programs and facilities for all ages aimed at improving the overall physical and mental health of Aurora's citizens.
This position will work approximately 8 hours per week (2 hours per day Monday through Thursday).The City of Aurora will conduct ongoing screenings of applications on a first come-first serve basis.

Responsible for the overall cleanliness and sanitation of interior and exterior of the Village Green CenterPerform a variety of routine cleaning tasks of a multi-level/multi room building and understands occupational hazards and safety precautionsGeneral knowledge of custodial procedures, building systems, and the ability to perform minor repairsClean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming themGather and empty trashService, clean, and supply restroomsClean and polish furniture and fixturesClean windows, glass partitions, and mirrorsDust furniture, walls, machines, and equipmentSteam-clean or shampoo carpetsClear debris from groundsRemove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using snow shovels, and spread snow melting chemicalsFollow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, toprevent damage to floors and fixturesMix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specificationsMove heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucksStoreroom upkeep and organizationMaintenance and upkeep of equipment and suppliesBasic record keeping methods, and ability to read directions, chemical labels, and work documentsTake initiative to improve the building quality by meeting the needs and expectations of the Village Green users and patrons, as well as the entire Village Green staffProvide outstanding customer service and get along with coworkers, patrons, and supervisorsConcentrate and accomplish tasks despite interruptions, perform a variety of tasks simultaneously or in rapid succession, and perform job responsibilities in a timely manner to meet scheduled deadlinesMonitor building security and safety following set guidelines and proceduresNotify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systemsPerform other duties as assignedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONSAn equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
