    Description

    The Plant Engineering organization provides engineering oversight, program support, and qualified staff to support the Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP) mission.

    Near term support is provided by the Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC).

    The mission includes safely storing, treating, and immobilizing the highly hazardous radiological wastes created during prior periods of nuclear processing at the Hanford Reservation.

    The Plant Engineering organization and programs provide the framework for executing engineering work. Plant Engineering personnel are responsible for the technical adequacy of Plant Engineering products and decisions.


    Within the Plant Engineering organization, the Zone Teams operate to provide a consistent approach to engineering activities in the WTP facilities.

    Goals and objectives for the Plant Engineering zones are established to support the WTP Project mission in accordance with project procedures, Plant Engineering Project Instructions, and the Plant Engineering Program Description.

    Plant Engineers within the Zone Teams have the responsibility for supporting, coordinating, and implementing engineering activities within the assigned zone.

    This particular position is with the LAW / EMF Zone team. This position requires work on a rotating shift.

    Maintenance planning within the assigned zone including preventative and corrective maintenance
    Soliciting technical support from System Engineers or other engineering resources as needed
    Progressing and coordinating Plant Engineering production control schedule activities
    Troubleshooting in the field (as requested)

    This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC

    Implement Plant Engineering program elements as assigned
    Develop, review, concur with and/or assess engineering technical documents
    Assess facilities, systems, and/or processes anomalies or degraded conditions
    Develop or request support to develop engineering products for system or equipment repair or replacement
    Provide on-site technical support during preventative or corrective maintenance activities or commissioning
    Ensure the health and safety of self and staff by implementing the principles of Integrated Safety Management System
    Ensure that personal conduct of work is consistent with nuclear safety and quality culture expectations
    Meet training requirements and maintain qualifications to perform work
    Support control of field work in assigned areas, including integration of project activities, repairs, and equipment operations activities
    Support operations, maintenance, and commissioning of the WTP Facilities
    Provide technical review of facility/system related procedures and work instructions
    Assist with resolution of design issues necessary to support plant operations and/or maintenance
    Review Project design and other documents for operations, maintenance, and testing impacts and providing alternative solutions
    Interface with subcontractors, vendors, and project support groups
    Complete required training and maintain qualifications associated with assignments
    Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work to protect self, others, and the environment

    Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline or related science from a four-year accredited college or university

    Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft application suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.)

    Experience in processing facilities, DOE facilities, or DOD facilities
    EFNM) Exposed Field Non-Manual- Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation.

    Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting.

    Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment.

    Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.
