- Performing routine medical procedures, including but not limited to physical exams, vaccinations, weight monitoring, wound care, inhouse diagnostics, microchipping, medication administration, and humane euthanasia throughout an animal's time with us, from intake to final placement.
- Support surgeries and anesthesia monitoring under the limited supervision of a veterinarian.
- Triaging medical emergencies and transmissible disease outbreaks to reduce risk of exposure, spread, and euthanasia.
- Maintaining accurate and comprehensive medical records for all animals.
- Educating staff and volunteers on Fear-Free medical handling and restraint techniques that increase the safety and comfort of animals and the people interacting with them.
- Accurately communicating medical conditions, treatment plans, and postplacement needs of animals in a clear and timely manner to other staff and members of the public, particularly potential adopters and foster parents.
- Working closely with all staff to develop and implement health protocols and SOP's and to create content that educates and informs volunteers and the public.
- Creating an efficient supply ordering process within budget guidelines, managing an uptodate inventory of medical supplies and equipment, and maintaining an accurate usage log of controlled substances that meets federal requirements.
- Develop and maintain a Veterinary Services budget alongside the Executive Director and DVM.
- Providing regular reports, updates, and recommendations on veterinary service trends in the community to the Executive Director and Shelter Operations Manager to assist in strategic planning of future needs.

~500 animals per year enter our doors and we serve additional community members and their pets through our public vaccine/microchip clinics, low-income spay/neuter program, and pet food pantry and intake diversion programs.
_Beyond your key responsibilities_, you will be part of a dynamic, cross-trained team that engages in hands-on care with the animals (i.e., cleaning, handling, vaccinating, humane euthanasia, etc.) and face-to-face interactions with the public (i.e., medical adoption counsels, volunteer trainings, spay/neuter clients, educational events, etc.).
This is a *full-time (38-40hrs/wk), on-site position* that reports to the Shelter Operations Manager and DVM and offers the following benefits:Competitive Compensation:
$27.00-$29.00 hourly wage; dependent on experience, skills, and certifications.

Valid Washington state Veterinary Technician License and continuing education to maintain license is required. 1+ years previous experience working in an animal shelter (preferred) or vet clinic.
