    POSITION OBJECTIVE:

    The job of Teacher (K-12) is done for the purpose/s of planning, organizing and implementing an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)

    Responsibilities:
    • Curriculum Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive K-8 STEM curriculum that aligns with national and state standards, integrating inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, and cross-disciplinary connections.
    • Classroom Instruction: Deliver high-quality instruction in STEM subjects to students in kindergarten through eighth grade, employing a variety of teaching strategies and instructional technologies to accommodate diverse learning needs and styles.
    • Hands-on Learning: Design and facilitate hands-on, experiential learning activities, experiments, and projects that allow students to explore STEM concepts, develop problem-solving skills, and make real-world connections.
    • Technology Integration: Integrate technology effectively into the STEM curriculum, utilizing educational software, digital tools, and online resources to enhance teaching and learning experiences and promote digital literacy.
    • Assessment and Evaluation: Develop and administer assessments to measure student learning and progress in STEM subjects, analyzing data to inform instructional decisions and provide timely feedback to students and parents/guardians.
    • Differentiated Instruction: Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, including English language learners, students with disabilities, and gifted learners, ensuring that all students have access to challenging and meaningful STEM learning experiences.
    • Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and specialists to integrate STEM concepts and skills across the curriculum, promote interdisciplinary learning, and participate in professional learning communities focused on STEM education.
    • Parent and Community Engagement: Establish and maintain open communication with parents/guardians regarding students' progress, achievements, and opportunities for involvement in STEM-related activities and events, fostering a partnership between home and school.
    • STEM Enrichment: Organize and facilitate STEM enrichment activities, clubs, and events, such as robotics competitions, coding workshops, science fairs, and engineering challenges, to extend students' learning beyond the classroom and inspire a passion for STEM fields.
    Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require):
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM-related field (e.g., Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Technology, etc.). Advanced degree or teaching certification preferred.
    • Prior experience teaching STEM subjects to students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
    • Strong knowledge and understanding of STEM concepts, principles, and pedagogical approaches appropriate for the K-8 grade levels.
    • Proficiency in integrating technology into teaching and learning processes to enhance STEM instruction.
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, parents, and community partners.
    • Passion for teaching and learning, with a commitment to inspiring and motivating students to explore and excel in STEM fields.
    • Flexibility, creativity, and adaptability in designing and implementing engaging STEM lessons and activities that meet the diverse needs of learners.
    • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement in STEM teaching practices.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

    Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

    Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.
