    Summary of Position:


    Responsible for new equipment and process implementation, and verification/validation, existing equipment, and process refinement; existing equipment and process troubleshooting; tool, fixture, and gage design, fabrication, implementation, and verification/validation; and CAM/CNC machine or other computerized process programming.

    Design work cell layouts to optimize process flow and manufacturing throughput.


    Essential Functions and Duties:
    Responsible for the implementation and improvement of processes that are complex in nature.

    These can include new or existing, single processes, or multi-process systemsResponsible for analyzing Equipment and Process-related problems (debug) in assigned areas and implementing solutionsResponsible for contributing process input for New Product Development ProjectsWorks jointly with Manufacturing Product Engineering, Production, and Quality to ensure assigned processes successfully produce components that comply with applicable drawings, specifications, and/or Work InstructionsAssists Manufacturing Product Engineering, Quality, and New Product Development in selecting service suppliers for component processingMaintains in-depth knowledge of pertinent Manufacturing Technologies and disseminates this information as requested to various Quality, Engineering, and Production groupsInteracts with Software Department for programming and software integration of assigned CNC machining or other computerized process programming.

    Ensure programs produce required results. Ensure that proper programming documentation is completed and released. Work with Manufacturing and Quality to ensure operators are properly trained and system is properly verified/validatedTravel to vendors, trade shows and between Straumann facilities, as neededNon-essential Functions and Duties:Stays current with various material removal, inspection, and manufacturing systems technologies and philosophiesProvide various component cycle time estimates for product costingOther duties may be assigned, directed, or requested

    Physical Attributes:
    Observe and hear warning signs and signals within all areas of the companyStand and/or sit up to 8 hours a day (with periodic breaks allowed) and walk up to an hourEmployee must be able to wear synthetic gloves for hygiene reasonsWear protective eye wearEmployee must be able to wear protective hearing gearSpecific vision ability required by this job includes close vision and the ability to remain focused on small work pieces for extended periods of time

    Work Environment:
    Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing environmentThe employee may occasionally be exposed to dustThe noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderateThe employee will be working in a fast-paced, team environment

    Minimum Qualifications:
    Bachelors degree in industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor of Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering1+ years of experiences as an engineer in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a medical device industry1+ years of experience in ASME drawing standards; CAD/CAM, manufacturing processing and inspection techniques; process control (including automation and SPC); and project justification/scheduling

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
