    Responsibilities
    JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE

    The Infection Prevention consultant provides remote and on-site support to CommonSpirit Health facilities in all infection prevention related activities associated with hospital accreditation standards, state and CMS regulations, surveillance and reporting, performance improvement, mentorship of new Infection Preventionists, and education which are intended to ensure that the facility's patients, personnel & visitors will be protected from transmission of diseases & infection within the facility's environment as identified in the core competency model by the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC).


    ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Perform centralized surveillance and report healthcare acquired infection (HAI) data to the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) in collaboration with assigned facilities
    • Support facilities in complying with Infection Prevention Hospital Accreditation Standards, State and CMS regulations
    • Provide assistance for daily operations of the Infection Prevention department during vacancies
    • Establish ongoing assessment and development of Infection Preventionists that are new to the profession by utilizing documented competencies
    • Assist in developing the Infection Prevention annual risk assessment, action plans, and annual evaluations for strategic planning
    • Strategize performance improvement initiatives that promote consistency in adoption and improved patient outcomes

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience:

    • Master's degree in related healthcare field (e.g. Nursing, Microbiology, Public Health)
    • Minimum of three (3) years clinical experience in Nursing Microbiology Biology Public Health or other healthcare related field.
    • Ten (10) years of Infection Prevention leadership.
    • Interpretation of Hospital Acquired Infection related data.

    Licensure:

    • Certification in Infection Prevention and Control by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC)

    Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training

    • Demonstrates exceptional ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and accurately to varying stakeholders without direct oversight
    • Demonstrated knowledge of HAI definitions and usability of the NHSN database
    • Highly adaptive and ability to manage multiple priorities
    • Proficiency in analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with ability to identify system vulnerabilities and develop and apply innovative solutions
    • Skilled to convey complex information clearly and concisely to all levels of staff, management, and outside personnel, with the ability to motivate, influence, and persuade others
    • Knowledge of relevant healthcare information technology

    Pay Range
    $ $64.85 /hour
