    Provides direct patient care to pediatric through geriatric patient populations.
    Addresses the psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment.
    Adapts nursing procedures to meet the needs for treatment of various types of patients
    Counts narcotics at the beginning and end of each day with another nurse, per policy.
    Coordinates and supervises patient care
    Provides education to patient and family regarding care
    Ability to create documentation that meets current standards, policies and procedures and in a timely manner
    Provides innovative input into the development of the hospital environments and its processes
    Participates in facility performance improvement activities
    Creates and maintains policy and procedures to State and Federal regulations
    Maintains policy and procedures in relation to hospital/ clinic regulations
    Specific Nursing Roles at Summit Surgical
    Provides direct and indirect patient care in the medical-surgical setting. Communicates with physicians, nursing management, and coworkers as appropriate about changes in patient's clinical condition. Checks medical records for requirements of completeness prior to surgery. Obtains documents and assesses vital signs preoperatively.

    Position Summary:
    Responsible for monitoring patient's physiological status in the immediate preoperative environment. Demonstrates knowledge of perioperative factors that alter immediate postoperative phase.
    Obtains documents and assesses the vital signs every ten (10) minutes during phase 1 recovery.
    One year of ICU or PACU experience

    Addresses and promotes the physical and mental health of patients by utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation.

    Effectively interacts with patients, significant others, and providers while maintaining standards of professional nursing.

    Assess operating room for equipment functioning and readiness, obtains supplies for individual cases, and ensures all needs of surgical operating team are met.

    Preps patients for procedures correctly and per policy
    Appropriately & safely positions patients while under care
    Prepares and cleans operating room suites before and after cases
    Ensures required pre-op information is available before patient is taken to surgery
    One (1) year of work experience in the operating room preferred

    Minimum of one (1) year work experience
    Maintains regulatory requirements and completes annual education requirements
    Can interface with computers effectively
    Ability to perform lab testing per lab policies and procedures
    Knowledge of storage, care and use of each specific cartridge
    Knowledge of quality control testing monthly or with each new shipment and proficiency test
