    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Mechanic recommends and implements repairs for all types of industrial and rotating equipment, including but not limited to compressors, turbines, speed reducers, pumps and other equipment. Has the ability to document erect, install, align, repair, replace, disassemble, reassemble, move, and inspect all rotating equipment, using proper tooling and processes to complete work in a safe and timely manner. Has the ability to plan and oversee repairs with very minimal supervision or feedback. Helps train other employees in the functions and processes in the department.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Performs major repairs and performs preventive maintenance inspections, diagnostic, and repair of Mill equipment.
    • Disassemble and reassemble complex turbine/rotating equipment, rotor balancing, inspections or turbines / rotors and applicable equipment – Bolting, Hydraulic Bolting, Flange Management, Small Bore Piping, Basic Rigging/Lifting, O/H Crane Operator.
    • Move and align machinery and equipment using hoists, cranes, chain falls, hand tools, power tools, pneumatic and hydraulic tools, micrometers, rules, squares, plumb bobs, dial indicators and/or laser alignment equipment.
    • Perform material and machine inspections using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, rules, calipers, protractors, and torque wrenches.
    • Performs all work within Standard Repair Times (SRTs).
    • Works from prints, drawings, and verbal instructions, performs standard layouts and set-ups of dimensions and tolerances, utilizes standard shop hand tools, measuring devices, and equipment.
    • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
    • *During the Repair Season, responsibilities include repair and maintenance of steam turbines, speed reducers, steam traps Oversees reassembly of equipment and responsible for balancing installed equipment requiring balancing and coordinates with reliability engineers for vibration analysis post installation.
    • Performs other related projects and assignments as business dictates.

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language to interpret manuals and directions on the job, over the radio, and to ensure safety for all on the work site.
    • Ability to operate a forklift, use various hand / power tools, calibrating tools, drill press, cutting equipment, levels, and measuring tape.
    • Qualified to operate an overhead crane.
    • Ability to use computers, read & interpret manuals, basic welding & cutting skills and experience in cane grinding or similar processing environments.
    • Ability to adapt quickly to a multicultural environment, remain calm and focused under pressure.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team, as needed.
    • Bilingual and Biliterate – English and Spanish, preferred.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
    • Three (3) plus years of turbine and mechanical skills.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Regular attendance is required during your schedule shift.
    • Must be able to work in hot, cold, wet, humid, dusty, and foggy working conditions depending on weather.
    • Must be able to work in all positions (overhead, kneeling, reaching, crawling & working in small workspaces) & be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
