Job Summary
Assist the Public Works Director with planning, implementing and delivering public works services to the City. Provide leadership and direction for major functions and activities of the Public Works Department including Administration Utilities Engineering and Transportation.Responsibilities
Directs and manages the City Engineer and the functions administered by the Engineering Division including capital projects review of public infrastructure associated with private development projects directs and manages the Public Works Project Manager overall responsibility of long range infrastructure systems master planning various other special projects assists in leadership management responsibility for other Public Works Department services water treatment water distribution wastewater collection stormwater collections facilities maintenance street infrastructure sidewalk maintenance transit operations bicycle pedestrian program management facility maintenance municipal airport management buildings equipment fleet maintenance oversees capital improvement programs city wide master plans system development charge methodologies fees develops interagency agreements partnerships represents before local government state agencies committees boards commissions community groups Council public facilitates meetings responds complaints concerns issues contributes quality department service developing reviewing implementing policies procedures legal requirements state federal regulations city needs participates budgetary efforts interprets uses financial data informed business decisions provides information reviews approves actions reports seeks input analyzes recommendations chooses path forward address internal external customer expectations prepares reports analysis correspondence communicate complex issues general audience responds difficult sensitive inquiries resolves alternative recommendations represents department various commissions committees council public provides support advisory boards officials staff coordinates planning operations Benton County J ODOT MPO OSU responds emergency situations participates appropriate City-wide emergency preparedness response activities directs coordinates monitors projects initiatives programs implements strategic operational plan goals objectives relating to Public Works may act director absence effectively supervises assigned staff responsible supervision management all assigned staff performs personnel duties selection coaching mentoring training employee relations evaluating performance succession discipline termination creates maintains effective work environment communicating goals expectations counseling employees supporting employee engagement efforts acts ethically honestly applies ethical standards behavior daily interactions builds confidence through own actions regards everyone customer delivers service possible respectful patient manner promotes implements division safety program complies safety rules performs safe manner ensures supervisors provide maintain working environment compliance Federal State City guidelines regulations operates drives vehicle truck safely legally maintains relationships coordinates activities supervisors managers workgroups within departments/Job description
