    Description

    Purpose: To provide consistent and compassionate care to residents, assisting licensed nursing staff with treatments and personal care as needed.

    Essential Job Functions and Requirements:

    • Work shifts as scheduled, with flexibility for additional hours as necessary.
    • Assist residents with bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, and all activities of daily living (ADLs).
    • Change bed linen according to the bathing schedule or as required.
    • Take and accurately record vital signs as per policy or direction.
    • Assist residents in and out of bed, ensuring their safety and comfort.
    • Turn and reposition residents to promote comfort and prevent bed sores.
    • Provide oral hygiene assistance, including denture care, at scheduled times or as needed.
    • Respond promptly to call bells, providing timely assistance.
    • Complete patient care records at the end of each shift, including intake and output.
    • Prepare and fill out Patient Observation Records and Activity Attendance Records for the upcoming month.
    • Collect urine or stool specimens, as directed, and provide enemas when required.
    • Maintain cleanliness in patient units, hallways, and personal living spaces.
    • Care for and clean nursing equipment, ensuring all tools are hygienic and ready for use.
    • Follow policy regarding restraints, including timely releases.
    • Assist with post-mortem care when necessary.
    • Ensure residents have fresh ice water by refilling pitchers at least once per shift.
    • Clean and organize bedside tables, drawers, and closets, including clothing management.
    • Rinse personal items if soiled and properly dispose of them in the designated areas.
    • Assist residents to bathrooms as needed or provide assistance with bedpans or urinals.
    • Empty catheter bags at the end of each shift and accurately record output.
    • Support rehabilitation programs, engaging in ambulation, bowel, and bladder retraining, while documenting progress.
    • Maintain a supply of clean towels and washcloths for each patient.
    • Regularly replace plastic bags in incontinent pad barrels and linen containers.
    • Provide end-of-shift reports to oncoming CNAs.
    • Perform other duties as assigned to enhance resident care.
