    Position Summary:

    Supporting and improving the design and efficiency of equipment, processes and systems through the use of sound engineering practices which includes the implementation of lean manufacturing practices.

    Troubleshooting and problem solving, often times as a leader with advanced knowledge, to correct manufacturing inefficiencies, proccesses and systems when there are failures.

    Essential Job Functions include, but not limited to, the following:
    GeneralApplies to all Manufacturing Engineers
    • Champion and Leader for Lean Manufacturing Principles.
    • Utilization of Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and Material Information Flow Chart (MIFC) to drive improvement activities.
    • Create and utilize standards in order to evaluate improvement activities.
    • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
    • Ability to identify, communicate and resolve mechanical failures associated with tools.
    • Responsible for safety in process design and in execution of daily activities.
    • Ensure compliance of practices, procedures and instructions relative to applicable corporate standards (ISO, TS, etc).
    • Ensure quality outputs from daily activities.

      o Use of proper data collection and analysis to ensure provided information is supported with data that reinforces the stated output.

      o Coordinate/facilitate/analyze process design of experiments (DOE's).
    • Ensure timely execution of planned activities.
    • Provide process design and improvements in a cost efficient manner.
    • Proficient in completing cost justifications with acceptable ROI.
    • Foster good working relationship and demonstrate effective communication skills with vendors, team members, suppliers and project teams.
    • Capable of independent decision making.
    • Proven ability to report work status concisely to leadership.
    • Use scientific method for problem solving.
    • Anticipate and recognize the existence of a problem; use original analyses and generate new, innovate ideas.
    • Commit to a solution in a timely manner and develop a realistic approach for implementing a solution.

    Functional PriorityManufacturing Engineers will focus within one or more functional priority
    • Launch Manufacturing Support o Support manufacturing production by leading troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities. o Support plant problem solving teams to ensure the production of quality parts and a safe working environment. o Provide on-call support for all manufacturing processes in order to meet customer demands, when necessary. o Develop maturation plans and timelines in accordance with risk mitigation strategies. o Lead activities to launch new business and execute the maturation process. o Participate in regular launch team meetings. o Lead technical solutions and provide input and support for tool designs and development. o Participate in Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) development meetings. o Provide the specification for and procure capital needed to support new business. o Communicate and share information with peers to ensure launching practices are standard. o Continuously challenge maturation activities and identify opportunities to reduce maturation time.
    • New Business Pursuit o Lead activities associated with winning new business. o Participate in Feasibility and Process Plan and Tolerance Reviews (PPTAR). o Provide quotes in the agreed upon timing. o Identify opportunities to reduce quoting, feasibility and PPTAR times. o Communicate and share information with global peers to ensure quoting practices are standard. o Engage in investigation of methods to achieve a competitive process and "win" business. o Ensure successful transition of value stream to Launch Engineer by sharing pertinent information developed during the quoting process. o Ensure Minimum Process Requirements (MPR) are accurate and relevant.

    • Education/Experience o Engineering or Engineering Technology Degree from an accredited institution with 0-3 years of professional engineering experience o 2-year Technical Degree with a minimum of 5 years applicable experience o Journeyman card with a minimum of 3 years applicable experienceProficient with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.Experience with a CAD data management systemsProject leadership / organization skillsWorking between multidisciplinary groups
    • Maintenance, Tool Room, Operations, Engineering, Program/Commercial Teams.
    Ability to write Scope of work (SOW) documents, define a project, define a need, etc.Ability to organize multiple projects at a time without missing goals/deadlines.Knowledge and experience with Lean Manufacturing methods.
  • Experience in an automative related field preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Travel is occasionally required, up to 10% of the time.
