Under the general direction of a Supervising Transportation Engineer (Sup TE) of the Capital Procurement Section, the incumbent serves as a Senior Transportation Engineer (Sen TE). This position is responsible for supporting the Sup TE in ensuring the effectiveness of High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) contract procurement for capital contracts within Program Delivery. The Sen TE will perform a variety of complex analytical tasks requiring a high degree of independent action, initiative, discretion, and tact to support the efficient and effective functioning of the capital contract procurement processes for the Authority. The incumbent supports the Sup TE in collaborating with various levels of management and Program Delivery functions to ensure the consistency of Authority policies, procedures, and guidance related to the procurement, management, and administration of capital contracts.
Working Conditions
Hiring interviews may be available virtually, using teleconferencing or video conferencing options. Telework is available for this position with a minimum of two in-person working days per week.
Occasional travel to the Central Valley Authority locations for in-person training classes, meetings, and interviews is required.
While working on site, the incumbent works in a professional office environment, in a climate-controlled cubicle which may fluctuate in temperature and is under artificial light. Incumbent will be required to use a computer, mouse, and video display terminal and will be required to sit for long periods of time at a computer screen. Employee must be able to focus for long periods of time, multi-task, adapt to changes in priorities and complete tasks or projects with short notice. Employees may be required to travel outside of their workstation to perform general tasks.
