    Summary/Objective:

    Offer an employee the opportunity to train and learn one of the highest-demand trade positions in the construction industry We will train each candidate in the basic skills necessary for one of the following trades: Plumbing, Electrical, Sheet Metal, Welding or Sprinkler. Ideal candidate will be working under the direct supervision of the Construction Foreman, as they perform a variety of day-to-day activities in an organized manner. Daily activities include organizing and preparing materials, installation of pipe or sheet metal, unloading and loading materials, reading plans and specifications, and operating tools and machinery. Assists with daily tasks, as guided by experienced technicians. Training will prepare you for field work as needed.


    Essential Functions:

    • Under direct supervision, performs skilled trades' duties, to include inspection, repair, testing, adjustment, installation and removal
    • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
    • Assists with set up of tools and equipment
    • Transports tools, materials, equipment, and supplies to work site by hand, hand truck, or heavy motorized truck
    • Furnishes experienced technicians with materials, tools, equipment, and supplies
    • Cleans work area and restocks supplies and materials as necessary
    • Assists in lifting, positioning and securing of materials and devices
    • Uses knowledge of basic tools and materials
    • Polices the grounds regularly for trash and debris
    • Maintains work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
    • Performs prescribed tasks and possesses the ability to read directions for work at other job sites and possesses the means to travel from site to site
    • Works safely and complies with applicable health and safety-related rules, regulations and procedures
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    Supervisory Responsibility: No

    Required:

    • 6-month work experience; or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience
    • Commits to the company's Trades Training Program in order to learn the specific trade, as agreed upon, through the Apprenticeship Program and/or internal Training Program
    • Works well in diverse employee environment
    • Works well under immediate supervision
    • Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment
    • Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills
    • Must be able to pass post-offer pre-employment drug screen, and may be required to satisfactorily complete additional background checks as required (i.e. DMV, criminal history)
    • Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
    • Must be available, and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned, to include working varying schedules that may require extended hours (evenings, weekends and holidays) and require client-specific safety standards

    The work environment and physical demands required would be representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, and may include, but are not limited to the following:

    Work Environment:

    • May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, and dampness
    • May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels
    • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust
    • May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights

    Physical Demands:

    • This role routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools
    • While performing duties of the job the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
    • Frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms
    • Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus

    Travel:

    • May require travel (typically not overnight)

    Preferred:

    • Prior military experience
    • HS diploma or GED equivalent
    • Previous leadership and technical experience a plus
    • Career-minded individual interested in long-term construction employment a plus
