    The Military and Family Life Counseling (MFLC) Program was established to expand access to confidential, face-to-face counseling and reduce the barriers and stigma often associated with seeking counseling support.


    Summary:


    The temporary Adult licensed clinical Counselor positions have the primary responsibility of providing short term, non-medical counseling and outreach to military service members and their families in New Mexico.

    This includes individual, couples, group counseling, as well as briefings and presentations and 'walk-around' counseling to decrease the stigma often associated with counseling.


    We are currently seeking qualified Adult Counselors to support the Military and Family Life Counseling (MFLC) program in New Mexico.

    MFLC Adult Counselors provide services to military service members and their families to increase their ability to develop strong relationships, stress management, adequately express and manage their emotions and helps participants learn to anticipate and resolve unique challenges associated with military life.

    Other issues typically include marital problems, parenting, grief and loss, adjustment issues related to PSC'ing and deployments. These services aid in preventing or reducing the effects of stressors that may detract from military and family readiness.

    Additionally, Adult Counselors provide proactive outreach to service members and their families via walk-around counseling.

    Counselors work closely with military branch points of contact (POCs) to ensure that program services are provided within the scope of the contract and meet the needs of the assigned installation.

    Salary and leveling commensurate with experience.

    Responsibilities


    Essential Job Functions:

    • Providing face-to-face, short-term, non-medical counseling to military service members and their families.
    • Making appropriate referrals and handoffs to military and community resources, as needed.
    • Using approved training and materials to provide presentations / briefings to individuals and groups.
    • Providing referral resources to participants who need a greater level of care or to those that are not eligible for the MFLC program.
    • Providing outreach services to parents and the installation command staff.
    • Communicating information regarding trends and issues at assigned installation to supervisors.
    • Participating in regular in-service training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
    • Submitting Activity forms daily, to show 8 hours of direct daily contact.
    • Reporting time daily for employer and government.
