DutiesAllies in Hope is seeking a Chief Financial Officer with previous non-profit experience.
As CFO, you will be responsible for operating an efficient and effective finance department that provides a variety of services to the organization such as financial planning and analysis, treasury, tax and other finance operations.
You will also be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to the organization.Some of your duties will include:
Overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring efficient and effective business processes
Leads and oversees daily operations of the Department of Finance
Assists in performing all tasks necessary to achieve the organization's mission and help execute staff succession and growth plans
Setting performance goals and targets for the organization
Making key decisions regarding resource allocation, budgeting, financial management and forecasting
Designs, establishes, and maintains an organizational structure and staffing to accomplish the department's goals and objectives
Identifying new business opportunities and driving business development initiatives
Ensuring compliance with relevant local, state and federal laws, regulations, and industry standards
Stays abreast of new finance and accounting software in an effort to ensure that the agency and the Department of Finance are using the most effective and efficient tools in the day-to-day business of Allies in Hope - Works with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Human Services Officer (CHSO) to ensure programmatic success through cost analysis support, and compliance with all contractual and programmatic requirements
This includes:
1) interpreting legislative and programmatic rules and regulations to ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and contractual guidelines, 2) ensuring that all government regulations and requirements are disseminated to appropriate personnel, and 3) monitoring compliance
Participates in developing new business, specifically: assists the CEO, Chief Advancement Officer and CHSO in identifying new funding opportunities, the drafting of prospective programmatic budgets, and determining cost effectiveness of prospective service delivery
Ensures adequate controls are installed and that substantiating documentation is approved and available such that all purchases may pass independent and governmental audits
Analyzes processes and systems to understand control weaknesses and leads the process in developing recommendations for strengthening controls, developing policies and procedures to support recommended improvements to the CEO
Oversees all purchasing and payroll activity for staff and participants
Assists in the design, implementation, and timely calculations of wage incentives, commissions and salaries for the staff
Leads and oversees Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and ensures a disaster recovery plan is in place
Monitors banking activities of the organization
Ensures adequate cash flow to meet the organization's needs
Manages any special projects as directed by the CEO and/or determined on own initiative
Skills
To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills:
Strong leadership abilities with a proven track record of successfully managing teams
Excellent financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
Sound business acumen with a deep understanding of business operations and strategy
Demonstrated experience in senior leadership positions, preferably as a CFO or in a similar role
Proficient in strategic planning and execution to drive organizational growth and success
Proven ability to develop and implement effective business development strategies
Exceptional communication skills to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels
Strong decision-making capabilities with the ability to analyze complex situations and make informed choices
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public
Solid GAAP and financial reporting technical skills
Education, Experience, Certifications and Licensing Requirements
MBA or bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or equivalent experience
Master's degree preferred
Certified Public Accountant certification
Five to seven years senior management/supervisory experience in an Accounting/Finance department of a corporate or non-profit organization with a minimum of a $20M budget
Experience in the areas of fiscal compliance and in the field of federal, state, local and private funding sources
Familiar with other not-for-profit general ledger softwares
Proficiency with General office software, accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite and MIP software, and spreadsheets
