    Description

    Job Title: HPC (High Performance Computing) Systems Engineer

    At Alsym Energy, we are on the lookout for a seasoned HPC Systems Engineer to enhance our research team's capabilities in computational analysis and High-Performance Computing (HPC). The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of computational engineering principles and extensive experience in computational workflow automation, job queue schedulers, bash scripting, Linux environments, container development, databases, Python coding, and cloud computing solutions. This role is critical in propelling our engineering projects from concept to execution, leveraging state-of-the-art technologies to advance our engineering solutions.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Design, install, and maintain HPC infrastructure including hardware and software components.
    • Optimize computing resources for various research applications, ensuring efficient job scheduling and resource allocation.
    • Develop and maintain containerized solutions for software deployment to ensure reproducibility and scalability across computing environments.
    • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical support and guidance to users.
    • Implement and maintain cloud computing solutions, including managing integrations between on premises infrastructure and cloud services.
    • Collaborate with researchers to understand computing needs and develop solutions that enhance research capabilities.
    • Ensure data security and compliance with relevant data protection regulations.
    • Document system configurations, processes, and procedures.
    • Stay updated with the latest developments in HPC technologies and cloud computing trends.

    Required Skills and Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Proven experience in managing HPC environments, including both CPU and GPU nodes.
    • Strong experience with Linux/Unix operating systems, shell scripting, and system administration.
    • Proficiency in container technologies such as Singularity, Docker and Kubernetes.
    • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid cloud environments.
    • Familiarity with HPC-specific tools and libraries (e.g., MPI, CUDA, OpenCL).
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to document procedures and configurations.
