Sisters of the Holy Cross, Inc., located on the beautiful Saint Mary's College campus in Notre Dame, IN has a newly created Life Enrichment Companion PRN position available.

Main Function: To accompany sisters on activities outings and assist the sisters in and out of vehicle.

Companion

1. Accompanies sisters on activities outings. Helps sisters with walkers, pushing wheelchairs, and assists sisters in and out of vehicles.
2. Provides overall companionship to sisters throughout the activity.

Teamwork

1. Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling and in daily work assignments to meet the sisters' changing needs.
2. Assists all staff and/or all Sisters as the need arises. May assist in transferring Sisters, which requires lifting up to 50 pounds.

Other

1. Maintains confidentiality and supports the Sisters' worth and dignity.
2. Promotes favorable public relations.
3. Follows established dress code.
4. Maintains attendance and observes working hours, starting time, lunch period, breaks, quitting time, etc.
5. Complies with work rules, regulations, and instructions, follows established systems and procedures, and completes assignments with minimal supervision.
6. Performs additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

High school diploma or GED required.

Experience

Preferred experience working with the geriatric population and knowledge of life enrichment activities.

Responsibility

Normally is given scope of task to be completed and allowed to take necessary steps to achieve desired result upon supervisory approval.

Problem-Solving

Routine, repetitive work, detailed instruction under close supervision. Solutions to problems require standard or routine thought processes, which are learned by repetitive job tasks.

Personal Interaction

Requires communication within and outside the organization. Work requires routine, casual interaction, requiring accepted politeness and courtesy.

Work Environment

Works both indoors and outdoors.

Equipment Utilization

Familiarity with use of wheelchairs and walkers.

Hazards or Fatigue

Ordinary care and caution must be exercised while performing work activities. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and

hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling,

crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, stooping, and grasping all day. The

employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 20 pounds and occasionally exert

up to 50 pounds

Planning and Organizing

Works primarily on a day-to-day plan. Schedules routine tasks, taking into account any accumulated backlog. Anticipates daily workflow. Arranges and coordinates immediate work in relation to available resources using prescribed work procedures and methods.
