    Description

    POSITION SUMMARY


    Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.


    RESPONSIBILITIES
    Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency

    Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods

    Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards

    Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions

    Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes

    Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential

    Conducts time studies, observes manufacturing processes and identifies areas of improvement related to cycle time and scrap reduction

    Designs tooling, processes, machinery, and automation solutions as needed to support a lean and modern manufacturing environment

    Perform all other duties, as assigned


    JOB REQUIREMENTS
    Must be able to stand, walk (on concrete surfaces), bend, kneel, crouch, twist, and lift to perform repetitive movements

    Must be able to lift/push/pull objects up to 35 pounds, heavier objects require assistance

    Ability to adhere to safety policies

    Demonstrated use of Catia, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD

    Strong communication-both verbal and written

    Knowledge of blueprint reading, machining, tool design, product testing, metallurgy and cost accounting

    Additional skills such as cost analysis, facilities layout, plant/facilities engineering, pneumatics, process control SPC, budget management, and project management


    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering

    Manufacturing experience preferred
