    Job DescriptionPerplexity is seeking an experienced Research Engineer to shape the future of large-scale language models (LLMs) that power our products. If you're keen on pushing AI boundaries and making a significant impact, this role is for you.

    Responsibilities
    • Designing and building large-scale data pipelines that feed billions of tokens into LLMs.
    • Scaling and optimizing LLM training infrastructure for maximum efficiency.
    • Ensuring evaluation pipelines are accurate and reliable.
    • Enhancing inference infrastructure to reduce costs and latency while maintaining 99.9% uptime.
    • Continually improving LLM performance and accuracy.
    Qualifications
    • Proven experience with large-scale LLMs and Deep Learning systems.
    • Strong programming skills; versatility is a plus.
    • Self-starter with a willingness to take ownership of tasks.
    • Passion for tackling challenging problems.
    Nice-to-have
    • PhD in Machine Learning or related areas
    • Experience building distributed systems
    Our cash compensation range for this role is $160,000 - $250,000.Since publicly launching the world's first fully functional conversational answer engine a year ago, we've grown to 10 million monthly active users and have served over half a billion queries in 2023.To support our rapid consumer adoption and expansion plans, we've raised $73.6 million in Series B funding from trusted VC firms and prominent tech visionaries. IVP led the round with continued support from our Seed and Series A investors NEA, Elad Gil, Nat Friedman, and Databricks, as well as new investors NVIDIA, Jeff Bezos (through Bezos Expeditions Fund), Tobi Lutke, Bessemer Venture Partners, Naval Ravikant, Balaji Srinivasan, Guillermo Rauch, Austen Allred, Factorial Funds, and Kindred Ventures, among others.
